Contact Lens Cost Cutting article discussion

I must admit whilst I like the quality of the eye test itself, I do find them a little condecending and as if they are doing you a favour in Vision Express.
Oooh and I thought it was just me!
Made me so mad when I drove like crazy to make my post-fitting check up after work - only to get there and they had no record of the appointment I'd made two weeks earlier  and didn't seem to expect me to need a check-up even though I'd been told i did! Haven't been back yet but I don't have my presecription and am running out of the few I bought to try out.0 -
I have been wearing Boots dailies as part of their vision plan for 5 or 6 years.
I have now been offered an upgrade to Boots Premium Dailes for an additional £5/ month. I am currently on a 3 month trial upgrade and they do seem slightly more confotable.
I know that the current lenses are rebranded Cibavision Focus Dailies and the Boots Premium are the same as Focus Dailies All Day Comfort.
When I go to the Cibavision website it is clear that the old Focus Dailies are no longer marketed as a brand.
Does anyone know if this means that if I don't pay to upgrade, I will be upgraded for free anyway, because Cibavision no longer make these? Or are they just making them as own brand for Boots and others?
Your experiences would be welcome.0 -
Hi
If you are thinking about ways to save money on eye tests and contact lenses, why not think about taking out a health cash plan?
I have one through my company, HSA, and I used it to buy my glasses with. I just bought my glasses, sent in my claim, and I got the money paid back into my bank account.
You can do the same with contact lenses and eye tests. My colleague buys her contact lenses online, and she gets nearly a whole year's worth paid for by HSA.
There are a whole load of companies that offer these types of plan. You can also claim back on dentists visits, physio, osteo etc. Martin has a great article about Health Cash Plans on this site if you search for it.
Hope this helps

He would like to know of where he can get cheap disposable contact lenses online.
I've informed him of Secondsight, just wondering if there was anywhere else I could tell him about?
Many thanks for your expertise!:)
U can try contactforlenses.com, they give you lenses for the best prices. I have been using them from past 3 years as they work out to be very economical for me0 -

Hi everyone I'm new to contact lenses and would like a little help.
I'm coming to the end of my Specsavers free trial and would like to compare their monthly fee with buying direct off the net. The problem I'm having is I can not find the make of lense they have given me on the online shops.
On the packaging it says Filcon II 3 contact lenses, does anyone know where I could buy these online?
Thanks in advance.Cashback earned

I'm afraid that's just the material - that's not enough to narrow it down.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

How can I find out which lenses they are? They are monthly silicon lenses that let more air get through to the eye.Cashback earned

They're not listed in my bible of contact lens manufacturers - I can only assume they are rebranded. Best thing to do is ask them!

My optician previously prescribed me Acuvue TruEye, which whilst very comfortable, are some of the most expensive on the market. I understand it is due to the material used.
Can anyone suggest cheaper daily/weekly/bi-weekly/monthly alternatives so that I can nudge my optician in the right direction when I visit later this month please?

Yes,they would appear to be J & Js latest product with new material technology so added benefits.
Hopefully when they start banging these out in big numbers, they will re-align the price of their other products.0
