I wonder if there's something running in the back ground
download and run www.ccleaner.com and let it remove all the rubbish from the pc , then download and run
www.superantispyware.com
you want the free version , Blue Button
when it's finished it may ask you to rebootEx forum ambassador

click 'run', type in msconfig, go to startup tab, uncheck Roxio products
Now, go to the 'services tab' right next to the 'startup tab' and uncheck Roxio products.
Reboot. Fixes this perfectly
seems to be a problem with Vista + XPEx forum ambassador

Hi Browntoa,
Thank you for your time.:T
Dowloaded and ran ccleaner - said it could free up 577.2MB on Windows and 1.6MB on Applications so I let it run.
Under Issues, it mentioned :
ActiveX/COM issues,
Missing shared DLL,
Obsolete software key,
Missing startup software.
I let it resolve all the issues.
Downloaded superantispyware and it's scanning now.

Browntoa, where do I go to start 'run' etc.
Sorry it has to be in idiot-speak angel.
Also, could you possibly tell me how I can paste a photo directly onto a forum page as opposed to an IMG link please?
Many thanks Browntoa.

one of the others may tell you how to post a picture
to do run , go to the start button, bottom left of your screen, then look on the right of the box that comes up and "run" is there on the right hand side towards the bottom.Click on it and a new box will open
type Msconfig in there and then click okEx forum ambassador

If the photo if very large, consider posting a thumbnail of it and linking the thumbnail to the full size photo. If you upload the photo to somewhere like Photobucket it creates a thumbnail for you to post.0 -
Hi guys,
Well, I don't know what's going on, as I did the ccleaner and superantispyware and got it all cleaned up, and then later, after rebooting, I got this error message again - get this a lot...
''From Interactive services dialog detection ...
A program can't display a message on your desktop.''
So I clicked on show message and got
''Message Title: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
Message Path: ram Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\9.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatch9.exe
This program has asked Runtime to be terminated in an unusual way.''
It mentioned contacting the manufacturer, I clicked ok ready to return to normal and another message was hiding behind the first one...
Runtime Error
- R6025 Virtual Function Call''.
I can't see anything that has Roxio attached. My DS has his own desktop on here and downloads music with itunes etc.
Any ideas anyone please?

Roxio makes CD-burning and DVD playback software, amongst other things. It sounds like this is crashing under Vista. I think you might find the fix for your error message here: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/MyDVD/000110CR
(basically - Roxio may be conflicting with your antivirus/firewall software, from the sounds of the article)0 -
Hi guys,
Would it make a difference if DS was running itunes, you tube, my space, quicktime? Are they the sort of applications related to Roxio if I've understood rightly?
Does that mean I'd have to go into his user log-on and run ccleaner, Msconfig. etc. all again there too?
Many thanks for your patience with me everyone. I appreciate your time and experience.

No, they wouldn't conflict with Roxio. Your anti-virus or firewall may have prevented some Roxio files being installed. Follow the fix in the timread link. As it says, if the services don't exist, reinstall Roxio with your a-v and firewall temporarily disabled. I would run virus and spyware scans before doing this to ensure the computer is free of nasties.
It will do no harm to log on to each user and run Ccleaner.0 -
if it is you antivirus (what one are you currently using ?? ) then you could remove it and use AVG free...
if the above does not do the honoursEx forum ambassador
