It seemed cold this morning but is nice and bright outside now. Just seen that Coop are offering £100 cash if you open a current account with them. Something to think about for later in the year???Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

I fell off the wagon today at work but since I hadn't spent much money this week so far that is ok. I still have spent less than £10 this week. So pleased.:j
Oh yes, I'm on hols for one whole week. I have plenty of work to do but I will do it at home under my own steam, with access to tv, views and tea.
Tonight I have been looking at kitchens on the internet for ideas. Blimey they look expensive. Maybe I need to save more than 8k ? Hark at me! :rotfl: I don't even have £3k yet and I'm off gallivanting from one internet kitchen company to another spending what I don't have. I do want this kitchen to be spectacular so I might save for a bit longer I think. Good things come to those that wait and all that......Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
I am spending the day at home resting and tidying and ironing. In term time it is so hard to keep the house spotless I always end up with dust despite hoovering and mopping like crazy. Cleanliness always cheers me up. Plus it is free and I am saving money.
The boys are coming tomorrow and we are talking about their wedding plans and I am cooking a valentine's meal for them and playing gooseberry. lol. :rotfl:
It is so nice to have a week off. I have been watching tv and chilling like normal people do.
No spending so far on credit card or on fleabay. Been watching cool programme called 'May the Best House Win'. It's been raining, so I am glad I didn't go out today.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
The boys came arriving with snacks. Then they drove me to the beach and we had a lovely walk seeing great scenery and felt refreshed. They are cooking a lovely roast meal. I have poured out drinks and eaten lots of crisps.
they have left me with really healthy food for the next few days. If I eat properly I will get well. The walking has made me realise that I need to exercise to stay happy and healthy. There is so much more to life than boring old work. However work allows me to fund my days off. lol.
I am an old maid and apart from when I was v young at university I haven't really ever celebrated Valentine's day. Today was spent with people that are dear and ooze friendship and love from every pore. They really made me feel special and valued. Bless them. I feel very happy and proud to know them.
I haven't done any work I have been spoilt so much. Bless them.
The boys reckon I can get a nice kitchen for £8,000. So I am a third of the way there. If I can keep my job and my current level of saving (providing I only buy necessities and don't go bonkers) I will raise a further £2,500 by December (ie a total of £5250 or 66% towards my kitchen fund). How cool is that?
Right I have just posted some pictures for sale for home collection oh fleabay. If they don't sell I will retry later.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
The sun is shining gloriously. Lovely bright and cheerful. I had to put the heating on though as it was so cold. I am going to continue with ironing today (not much done on Saturday) and I have done two loads of washing as weather is gorgeous and windy. I sorted out lots of paperwork.
I've been thinking, my new kitchen isn't going to be all new. I am not going to change my fridge, freezer or washing machine as that will be a waste of money when all are brands I trust and are working quite well. I am happy with them as they are so I think that will save on the cost. All I want is a nice pretty white kitchen and new gas cooker, oven and hood as Andy reckons mine is not so good, new wall and floor tiles (possibly).
I was supposed to go into work and plan but it's blooming too cold to walk in. I will do some work from home later in the holiday when I get into the mood a bit more.
Just realised this is the shortest month and I will get paid in one week after my holiday ends that should keep me going next week. lol. No money wasted on fleabay so far this month.
My bathroom window wont close. I wonder how much that will cost to fix? I am not going to open the window as I don't want to spend out just yet. It's just nice to chill at home. I hope this summer is going to be nice that's all I have to look forward to as I am not travelling abroad. I haven't been abroad for 9 years now. Scotland doesn't count.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
I have just come back from the supermarket. I am so glad I did. I have whoopsies: lots of fruit at a reasonable price once it had been reduced. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries yum. Now I will be healthy with a total spend of £30 including plenty of nutritious food.
My star purchases were two huge bunches of roses that were reduced after Valentines day. I paid £2.90 instead of £30!!!!!! Now, that's a respectable price! They look cracking upstairs with the red in my new paintings.
I have had texts from colleagues. It appears that no-one has been to work, we have all decided to work from home. Good, I don't feel so guilty now but I will pop in on Friday to do printing for Monday! I have done a fair bit of work today and am rather pleased with myself.
Only another 3 days of work left and I might be able to rest and enjoy my hols. lol. It is so nice to chill. I wish it were like this everyday. Wouldn't it be amazing if we only worked for two or three hours a day and earned the same wages? As a child I remember thinking we would be like the Jetsons, and have many robots doing all the work in the future and there was an illusion we would lead leisurely lives in our golden years.
In real terms (in comparison to those starving and living in war zones) our lives are leisurely, I suppose. At least, we have a nice safe place to go home to after work and we don't work down coal mines or do anything physically difficult but it would be so good to have everything perfect and ready now rather than having to work and save for it soooooo slowly. Hark at me, first world problems.:rotfl:
Does anyone ever watch 'May The Best House Win'? It is a fab programme, I am really enjoying it. I keep wondering how on earth the contestants live in such lovely houses with such normal jobs? It is rather superficial like 'Come Dine With Me' though I don't like that part of it. I am recording it from now on.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
It's raining now but it is bright. All the bulbs are growing in the garden. Hurrah.
I have just cancelled meeting my local friends tomorrow as I just have so much work to do. It has been like a Pandora's box, as I complete a job I realise there is so much else to do. I do need to go into work to do something urgently and I will not have time to complete it otherwise.
I have been working all afternoon. What a way to spend the holiday! On the positive side if it is done now it wont need to be done later.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Spent a day on admin for work and prep for work. I will be at this for the next 3 days I think full time. But I can see light at the end of the tunnel as the worst of it is over. If I have worked over my holiday it means term time might be easier. How on earth do people with families do this job?
It is approaching 6pm now and the day is just losing its brightness. I am so pleased it is nearly summer. Today has been another NSD. Hurrah. I am hardly spending on anything other than food and bills. I heard Ilona in her radio programme with Vanessa Feltz today and I thought I was following in her footsteps. If I continue to live like this it will be worth it in the end.
My friend told me that next term is going to be v short because we have an early Easter which is fab news. Another social is being organised at work but I am not going to go as it costs so much. I would rather have an early night at home in front of the telly!!!!
I am counting down the seconds (5 working days) till payday. Yay. Let's hope I don't fall off the saving wagon.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Been at work all day. Plenty done. I only have two large jobs left to do and then I will have caught up. My stress levels are going down.
I couldn't not mention that Miss Harper Lee has passed away. Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird was the person I wanted to be my father if I didn't have my wonderful dad. RIP ma'am for helping me to think, inspiring me and changing my life.
My brain has been ticking again. I will save for a new kitchen and move the sink and replace it with patio doors opening it out to the garden. I reckon it could be done for £10K at the most.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
I had a restful day. I did marking and then visited a local shop for crisps and snacks as a treat (£5 spent!).
Some more marking to do tomorrow. I will try to complete it but as long as I attempt some of it I don't mind if it's not all done as I have worked hard this holiday.
I have £10 spending money left for this month. :j
I am going to stay positive at work and focus on happy things like my lovely colleagues, nice parts of my job and the paydays.
lol.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220
