One week till payday. Hurraaaaaah.
I am so proud of myself. I don't think I have gone too mad. I have £200 in account and £40 left to spend. :jAiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
I have just ordered a book called Perfect Moneysaving by Smita Talati. It was about two pounds. I hope I haven't wasted my money. I do think this website is brilliant but it would be good to read more about the subject.
Just realised I have spent a fair bit on fleabay this month. So much for cutting down. I must try harder. I am going to analyse what I bought and whether it was essential:
Cardigan for mum -£9.20 essential she is my mum
Xmas parcel lights -£43.97 not essential and I didn't even want two maybe I can sell one next year as they are really nice.
History book on Kings and Queens of England £2.81 - not essential but interesting
Stripy Breton top -£13.00 not essential
Moneysaving book £2.20 not essential
So much for congratulating myself earlier in the week. I need my !!!! kicked. Hard. These were mostly things I wanted as I am greedy. Nice things at bargain prices. This maybe the reason I am not a millionaire. As my old PE teacher used to say, I must do better. Digest, Internalise and Memorise.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Is now the wrong time to tell you Martin has written books?
The money diet
The three most important lessons you've never been taught

Excellent plug, Mrs Upsidedown Bear. I had all of these books and gave them away to friends as they were fab. I learnt lots from them when I first joined MSE.
I just spoke with Virgin and they are going to take £8 off my next bill which is good as I don't pay much anyway. lol. :money: In the old days I would just have accepted paying full price without complaining but this site has taught me so much. Plus if you don't complain they wont bother that they have inconvenienced us.

I've been watching the effects of Storm Jonas in America. Snow really deep and such cheerful people not complaining despite having to wake up at dawn to get ready for work. Secondary problems of flooding are not hindering them either. Amazing. I do draw the line at watching the eeejit Donald Trump giving interviews though.
We are so lucky in the UK. I have nothing to moan about. I do fear for those flooded here and that they will be ok when the after effects hit us.
I have two lessons to write and normally I would be upset but it is warm, clean and safe here. Having some perspective is good. One lesson done. One to go. Tv break needed I think.
Payday on Friday. Hurrah. I have a two track mind. Money and Food. lol. And maybe, Daniel Craig.
No grocery shopping this week. I am making do with all my food in the freezer. There is plenty in.

I have just read an article in the Daily Mail about one of the most inspiring blog writers that I know entitled 'Is This Britain's Most Frugal Pensioner'. She is called Ilona and writes a blog called 'Life After Money'.
The article is quite ok but I think the readers comments are quite vindictive why is that not a surprise with the Daily Fail's readership? She is such a happy, cheerful character who is saving money and very kindly sharing her story. If anyone has time can they click on the Daily Fail's comments to say they disagree with the nasty comments people have made.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

Andy has posted too and me. I can't see my post though. I posted it as a reply on the first nasty comment. They just did it to stir people up but this is a real person who could be v hurt. The Daily Mail didn't interview her, they just copied an article from the Yorkshire Post. So cross.
I have written on Frugal Queen's thread too. Mrs Upsidedown Bear can you post on your thread too so more people stop this lovely lady from being bullied?
I don't like bullies.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Many thanks to everyone that posted on the Daily Fail to help Ilona.
I had a long day today. Work tried to change another part of job today with barely any notice and refused as it would just cause too much ill health and stress to me. I think this will count against me but I have to think of my health.
I have tomorrow off under my new timetable but have to write a new course and do plenty of marking. Payday in 3 days.
It's so strange because in about two months my salary will drop. I wonder how much it will drop by? How will I cope when they make illogical short term decisions then?
Public sector pay cuts are pretty common. I wonder how people manage to cope when they have a mortgage?
It would be good to know by how much my salary will fall as then I can plan whether to get another job, rent a room etc. No more fleabay spending now for at least a month.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
