I would also suggest keeping seeds, sow them in pots next year and have them inside until resembling a plug plant. Put the pots outside in the day, bring them in at night for a week. Then plant them outside.
Or scrape an inch of soil off the patch you want to have flowers, scatter the seeds and scrape the soil back over.

You are not poor, you just haven't got a plant budget organised yet. It's a few days til payday so have a look over your budget and keep upto £50 for the garden, if it means that's £50 less going into savings then that's what it is. This budget isn't forever as you probably only need a 7 or 8 month garden budget.

I agree with SYA about the net, or buy them door beads or plastic strip things that used to get hung up in the 70s / 80s. I've seen them for sale and they are not as 'groovy' as they used to be.

    Have a lovely weekend 🌞

What brilliant ideas you have. I am deffo starting a plant budget. £20 a month will suit me fine. It rained in the night, so happy. I can see the patches in the grass are definitely going so I have just run out and put out some more grass seed while it is still raining.

The slipper company have refunded me already so pleased that extra £25 means I will break even by the end of the month.

I emptied out my whole store room into the upstairs living room yesterday doing a Kon Marie 'Does It Bring Me Joy' Thing !!!!. Now I have about 20 sacks of clothes and I am going to be ruthless. Skinty has inspired me to cook some chicken later today too. That's my plan for today.
The boys come tomorrow. I am so excited. I am going to sterilise the whole house so Steve is safe. It is clean anyway but you can never be too sure.

Great news about the slipper refund 😊 It’s raining on and off here today so I think I will do some indoor stuff today. Enjoy your visit from the boys tomorrow

I have budgets for everything, if something pops up and I don't have a budget I make one for it! I also overestimate what I need, give it a few months then reduce my estimate to the real figure needed.

When did you last sit down and review your budgets? Maybe have a brew, get the pen and paper out (or spreadsheet), then have a look over the last few months. I know recently has been different compared to the start of the year, but it's a good place to begin.

Be ruthless, use this time to clear out and sell / give away what you no longer need or want.

I have found two lamps, my lovely lights from the living room that I couldn't sell due to lockdown and a SAD lamp for winter that I will sell online on Monday which is also payday. Hurrah. It does look much tidier in there. I have ordered some storage vacuum bags and will put away my winter clothes and towels when they come. It looks like it might rain again.

The boys visited today and we had a great time watching tv together and chilling. I don't think I will able to see them for a while as Andy starts work tomorrow and Steve will be starting his treatment which means he cant see anyone for 6 months. It was so brilliant to enjoy today it is so bizarre seeing them and not being able to hug them. Still as long as we are all safe we can do that in the future.

Tonight I have ordered 6 Pam's Choice foxglove plug plants and know exactly where I will put them. They cost £13.00 and I will  pay for them using tomorrows wages. I don't think I need to spend any more on the garden as it is slowly coming together.

The plan for tomorrow is to work, but I cant do some as I am waiting for instructions from an external organisation. I would like to do a bit of digging and clear some space for the foxgloves which are coming soon. I will also mow the grass avoiding anywhere I have planted grass seeds. I could also list all my clutter in local social media sites.

  • Glad you had a lovely visit from the boys & Steve starts his treatment again. Hope his next round goes ok. Foxgloves sound fab! 😊

You sound so much perkier after seeing the lads. I know you won't be able to physically see Steve, buy make full use of video calls, if he is up for it.

I love foxgloves, you've made a great choice and your garden will look fantastic. Keep your gardening budget going then that way you have savings to do things as and when required or a nice lump sum for kick-starting next year.

You don't have clutter, mearly items that require a new home 😊

Thank you both. It was really windy this morning and rather chilly but the sun seems to be coming out a bit.  I mowed the grass today (avoiding the grass seed!) as we are likely to have rain later in the week. I also worked a little in the greenhouse and then moved the tv in my living room to create more space. So far I have listed two things on social selling sites.
