The tickets seems to come little city breaks if you read the conditions on the 1st email you got, so presumably it's them who have the deal with Odeon and MD have the deal with them, so we are all 3 steps removed from Odeon. Odeon seem to be being very fair to people to be honest as they really don't need to be doing anything. All we can do is wait meantime. I think tickets are valid for 6 months from receipt which suits me fine but appreciate won't suit those looking for use this weekend or last week school hols.
This is perhaps the cause of the confusion but, if Odeon are advising people to get their money back incorrectly (and therefore losing the benefit of the deal), then I do not agree they are being fair.
I have done a search on Odeon after posting and there are a number of cinemas posting advice on ensuring the terms and conditions for redeeming codes are adhered to, as I had done. The assumption seems to be then that this is a valid deal and I'm leaning towards assuming I've been badly advised by the sales assistant. Actually it also suggests the other staff need to be made more aware of the existence of this deal and its validity...

Got mine last night, valid till 30th April 2016 so not so bad.
Still had to fork out another £20 yesterday to see peppa tho as they didn't arrive on time.0 -

Thank you for your post. Odeon have informed us that they are aware that some of their cinemas were not processing the e-vouchers that we sold correctly. This was an error with the cinemas in question.
All voucher codes that we purchased were authorised and sent to us from Odeon themselves.
