Hi,
I have 2 HSBC Current Accounts. I am not eligible for Advance because I don't pay in £1500 / not use it as my main account.
Has anyone received offers from HSBC stating they will upgrade the account after paying more than £1500pm for afew months?
Thanks

I think someone posted here that they were offered that if they did but best call them and ask.0

I can't find an advance thread to post in but OH went today to try and get the Advance account and ISA but was rejected due to not earning enough.. He then asked for a Bank Account in the hope that he'd be upgraded in a few months, the bank manager then told him he couldn't apply on the same day for a diferent account and to come back in a few days to apply for a Bank Account.0

He won't get upgraded automatically unless he does bring in the £1750 a month.0 -

He has 12k in savings, that's not a problem. The problem is them giving him a credit check, then deciding he doesnt meet their requirement of 'earning' £1750 a month and then them deciding that he has to come back in a few days for another credit search.0 -
Has anyone tried to open an Advance account who doesn't earn £1750?
I'm not currently with HSBC so would be opening as a new customer so they wouldn't be able to check this information.
Would like to take advantage of this offer but I'm not sure I would be able to I can easily transfer wages & the excess to meet the £1750 criteria0 -

OH was declined earlier for not having the 'right' wage. You might have better luck if you try a phone application, the staff in bank didn't want know that the online eligibility never stated a wage requirement.0 -

I don't pay my salary in to my HSBC account (though the account does have £1750 going through it most months) and they wrote to me earlier this month saying they will be upgrading me to HSBC Advance (I did not ask for the upgrade) on 9th April.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
We spent 30mins on the phone tonight opening a joint account which was all sorted easily. Once we've received the paperwork, set up telepone banking we can sort internet banking, we'll then deposit £1750 for the customary 3mins, then open an ISA each. Roll on the 2 x £10...
Simple, he says...MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -

Thanks think I'll give it a try over the phone
I just wasn't sure what to reply when they asked my annual salary, if they turn around and say a big fat no without even doing an application
At work this weekend so there is my job for Monday0
