Scottish Power
I'm confused.
SP have announced a gas reduction from 20 Feb. I am on a fixed rate (Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015) which expires soon. They have emailed me to ask if I want to switch to a new fixed rate (Online Fixed Price Energy February 2016)
Will they be offering a new fixed rate after 20 Feb or does the offer above take the decrease in gas in to consideration.

Take a look at the unit rates on the tariffs and you'll find out.
If you mean that they have reduced their flexible price gas tariff then you would still probably save money on a fixed price. A slightly cheaper rip off is still a rip off.0 -
Blink and you miss it.
The current deal is now Scottish Power March 2016.
Not a problem, since it is a little cheaper.
I am on January 2016, and didn't even notice February 2016 was out, before it was replaced.0 -
Thanks Pincher, I didn't realise March 2016 had come out, saves me £9 over Feb 2016.
Sbeardon - being a SP customer means you can switch to another tariff whenever you like; you don't have to wait til the end of your existing tariff0 -
For my post code:
March 2016
Electricity 10.476 20.549
Gas 3.000 20.549
February 2016
Electricity 10.648 20.549
Gas 3.041 20.549
January 2016
Electricity 10.793 20.549
Gas 3.355 20.549
The standing charge stayed the same.
The significant drop is the Gas 3.355 down to 3.041.
Just switched to March 2016.0 -
don't bother. Against better judgement, I switched last week from march 2015 to february 2016 tariff. After a few days of it appearing like i was transferring in they've made a right mess of the direct debits . Main account screen says direct debit £83, direct debit manager says £64, latest generated bill says £120, what i was paying was £75! So i phone them up and clueless woman tells me my direct debit is actually £40! She also told me at one point that i was over £500 in credit (i'm £60ish in debit!). Got the date of next direct debit wrong. Told me i will be charged on 25th february when previously they told me no payment would be taken. The incompetence of this company is beyond belief. I could write a book on the probs i've had with them. Only reason i requested tariff change was to wait for a better deal to come along elsewhere. do yourself a favour and go elsewhere even if it costs more! I really have no idea what my direct debit is now about to do switch to first utility instead via topcashback as i've had it with them.0

And I thought it would be easy! managed due to my disability to have my prepayment meters changed to credit meters on the 29th January, and then the fun began, that's sarcasm:)
The changeover arranged by Chris? on the 22nd January and he also told me my new standing charge and tariffs which according to all the other operators was wrong, so as of today: Standing charge for Electric: 20.555 Gas: 20.555, is this right! Tariff for Electric: 11.6575? Gas: 3.242? both February 2016? and this will be backdated till when the new meters were installed on 29th January.
After the prepayment meters were removed the Engineer told me the Gas meter had a credit of£10.7p Electric credit is £5.72p to have this refunded I was told by the Direct Debit team to call the Prepayment team, did this, we can't refund any money as your Gas meter numbers have not been updated on the National Data Base. As we all know this the fault of Scottish Power and I pointed this out and asked to be put through to the Metering team, after all why update the Electric meter readings and NOT the Gas. Operator put me on hold and came back with "the metering team are dealing with this now" and I will call you when my shift ends at 7pm. Unless they get this right my Direct Debit cannot start when I asked, 1st March. Back soon with whether my Gas readings have been updated.
PS: I have called Scottish Power a total of 11 times since the new meters went in on the 29th January due to every operator giving me a different Standing charge and Tariff.

Hopefully whilst all this is going on you are keeping records of the meter readings - especially the initial ones - they might have been at 0000 when the new meters were installed but not always so it's best to check. Make sure you read the meter at least monthy, record it and make sure that you either save enough to pay the bill or that your direct debit will cover it and is being taken from your bank account and being recorded on your energy account.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Terrible company!
I've been trying to get prepay meters on a new property switched to credit so that I can go elsewhere. It's been arduous to say the least. No idea of what I'm paying when as each advisor has told me something different and DDs only partially configured with my bank. Now that both meters changed to normal credit type (after 8 weeks), they've sent me new prepay gas and electric keys/cards and a welcome pack to prepay dated this week!! Unbelievable0 -
If you call Scottish Power and complain you are then given a standard answer, or lies! at the end of this conversation you are asked if you're happy with what the operator is going to do for you to resolve your complaint, DO NOT SAY YES YOU ARE HAPPY AS THIS MEANS YOUR COMPLAINT AS BEEN RESOLVED. Turns out neither of my new credit meters have been registered and again I had to go through giving this operator my end numbers for the prepayment meters and start numbers for the new credit meters etc. To avoid getting a big bill when this problem is resolved, sigh, I paid towards both gas and electric with my debit card, that was on Monday, as of this morning SP have not taken this from my account, seems it can take up to 3 days for this to happen? Oh! almost forgot, must be an age thing:) no call back last night from the operator who told me he would confirm that my meters had been updated, I'm not surprised and I'll bet neither are you.0

I was not aware of a potential ban on recruiting new customers !!
According to SP - My new tariff (fixed price energy March 2016) will cost me only £467 pa from my existing £603 !!
That's one hell of a drop0
