Vodafone 4 year contract
When I last upgraded my phone with Vodafone (back in October 2012) they have put me on a 4 year contract due to end Oct 2016. I realise that I should have raised this with at the time, and told them to reduce it, but it still seems a totally unreasonable length to create a contract for.
Further, I can see that Ofcom/the EU have now banned phone contracts that are longer than 2 years, so I'm wondering if I can get out of the contract early...
Anyone got a similar case or advice?
Thanks,
Pete

Are you on a consumer or a business contract?
I ask because it is incredibly unusual for there to be a four year consumer contract.0 -
It's a consumer contract :-)0

What are you paying ???0

The contract is for £37 for unlimted texts and minutes with 1GB of data.0

Contracts longer than 2 years had been banned before 2012.
If it was an early upgrade the remainder of the old contract could have been added to 2 years, but no way can it be 4 years in total.0 -
Have you actually spoken to them to get their reasoning behind the 4 years? As said by the above posters, contracts over 2 years have been banned for a while.0

only orange ever offered 3 year, never seen a 4 year on vodaDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Must be a sold gold handset for them to be charging you an incredible £1,776 over the minimum term...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks to everyone for the comments.Have you actually spoken to them to get their reasoning behind the 4 years? As said by the above posters, contracts over 2 years have been banned for a while.
No, I had always assumed that because I had agreed to the contract, there was no way out. However some idle googling on Saturday morning lead me those articles about greater than 2 year contracts being banned.
My next step is definitely to speak to them!0 -

So you did agree to it then? As in your first post you make it sound like it is some kind of error on their part. When I last upgraded my phone with Vodafone (back in October 2012) they have put me on a 4 year contract due to end Oct 2016. I realise that I should have raised this with at the time,0
