I feel your pain on the lights issue...when we renovated 2 years ago the cheapest we could get the led halogen lights were £50 per fitted unit via the electrician we have 22!!!
they are good although one of the bulbs has needed replacing and even the unit alone is £35 as you need to replace it as a whole....although thankfully its a job that can be DIY as they do clip in and clip out.

By the way good morning all...

22  Why is it all the nice looking stuff is so pricey
Friend of a friend (isn't that always the way) can apparently do them for less hopefully.
Site builder told us the bathroom ones would be easy to do retrospectively as they can go in from the loft downwards. Kitchen much harder so I'm debating splashing out on the 9 needed for there (would still be expensive  )
    Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
    Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
    Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

just floating this on our thread.

I need a new laptop. I don't want windows 8, but that's whats in the shops. ive read that windows 8 and 7 systems will get a free upgrade to 10 when its available.
now the bit im thinking about, should I hold on until 10 is available then buy an 8 in the shops as they are bound to be reduced. or just buy one now anyway and upgrade that when the time comes.
ill be buying in john lewis as I was gave £200 (exchanged for jl vouchers) for 20 years service at Honda.

As you've said, Windows 10 should be a free upgrade according to Microsoft here

Personally, I would keep a look out for a decent offer / price match rather than missing out on a bargain just because it doesn't have win10 on it yet.

we had them all done as part of a full house rewire and plastering ...they have been really good and added a much better light...22 covered kitchen, utility room, dining area and upstars hall way ....but at least they are all done now.
if the kitchen is on the ground floor then they will need tro access whatever is above so will need to go under your upastairs floorboards....
we priced up the units and found them cheapest at around £30-35 each so in fairness it didnt seem too bad to pay someone £15 to fit each of them...OH wasnt feeling very confident about cutting the newly plastered ceilings and left it to someone who knew what they were doing.

Hey Bubbs  how's your back?
I wouldn't say bargains, I just refuse to give any more money to the developers than we really need to :D
They want £55 per halogen light (snazzy lights in the kitchen ceiling) and we'd need 17 of them
I'll cope with candles if I have to :D

Our mortgage offer just arrived in the post :j starting to get a bit nervous now :o

I need to read back and see how lilaclillie is getting on as I think we went on the market at the same time :)

    Here I am :)
Went on market 5th I think of Jan. Our agent is a joke! We havent had one viewing yet, agent says we are overpriced.
    They priced it !!!!!
We've been suckered by them. They put some picture in that made us not look great ( scaffolding on the block), they could have left that out and I had to rewrite the specs of our sale. Not even got a 'for sale' sign put up.
They didn't even put basics of central heating and double glazing in?
They have 'suggested' we lower the price by £30.000, I've sugged that we don't sell with them even if they have an offer.
We are tied in for 12 wks from 5th Jan. After that we will look again with more savvy than this time .............. I hope.

Over a month and they haven't put a for sale board up

I would tell them to stuff it

Not sure if you have signed anything with them but there must be a get out clause for them not fulfilling there half of the agreement?

    That's shocking
Can't remember how long our tie in was, think we haggled it down to 6 or 8 weeks, but we had a house the agents were fighting over and we all knew it would sell really easily. They threw the board within a couple of days.
Hope your 12 weeks comes around quickly and you can find a better agent :(

I had to price check some things for my C&C tomo :rotfl:
I thought I'd found some free handwashes... turned out they will cost 45p each, which is a bit too much for me. But I did a test shop anyway. Imperial leather, 5 types on 2 for £3. MyS showing as £1 in T plus on 2 for 1. Buy in 2's. 90p for 2 after 10%. Results due at 4pm.

It must be the day to receive mortgage offers today...ours has arrived in the post too...

this is for rental number 3...a little scary that it now takes our monthly mortgage payments to a four figure amount.
Now looking at exchange and completion in 2 weeks so need to book an appointment to sign the contract with the solicitor
I seem to be the opposite to everyone else who is working hard to reduce their mortgages...
