Time to step up to the plate..

  • Deep breath.. I've amended my signature to reflect my debt, plus the joint debt. It was getting complicated to track which bit of the debt was where, so I thought I'd just amalgamate the figure in my sig. My personal debt is below £8000 now, which means the rest is the windows, and a very expensive MOT

It's all at 0% though, so hopefully some solid progress to come, especially now that I've had a pay rise. We've got our food bill down some more too, as our local @ldi has now opened and is so much cheaper than the others.

I took my dad to the hospital today, he's got a stuck kidney stone (so no pain thank goodness) and will probably need an operation this side of Christmas. Not sure it explains all his symptoms though :(

  • Bit down today. I've had some knee pain since August, which is why I didn't do the Bristol half marathon in September. Today I finally dragged myself to the GP; she thinks it's a meniscus tear and has referred me for scans and possibly surgery. Am relieved it's not just my imagination, but nervous about the possible op. Hey ho.
In other news, DD has decided she wants to give up guides, which is a shame. She doesn't do much outside school apart from that and piano, and I wanted her to have a social activity outside of school as she's quite shy. So instead she wants to join a hockey club! Pretty pleased with that, I don't know many shy hockey players ;)

  • Sunday. Dad is with us at the moment, waiting for some test results. He bought an enormous takeaway last night for us. So delicious! Very bad for my healthy eating though :D
The plan for today is to take DD to the blue and yellow store. She has been campaigning/badgering/pleading for a new desk and bookcases for her room, so we're off to have a look. We live about an hour and a half from our nearest one so it's a bit of a trek, but I'm quite looking forward to it. Plenty of places to sit down if my knee starts playing up! If we do get anything, it'll count towards her Christmas presents. She asks for so little really. Love her.

  • Hi Abba, thanks for popping by!

I'm a bit grumpy if I'm honest, knee pain all the time is no fun.
The desk was £80, so not too bad, and all within the Christmas budget. Just got the bookcases to order and then that's her room all done.

That's a good price for a decent desk xx

  • We've had snow overnight. The world is white and I love it. No plans here apart from some chores, Dad has lit the burner already so we'll be toasty warm soon. And a bit later on there will be sledging!!
In MSE news Christmas is proceeding to budget, just a few bits to get for Godchildren and then I think I'm mostly done. Work Christmas do is next week, and I'm wearing the same black sparkly dress I wore last year. No one will notice :D and if they do, I don't care anyway :rotfl:
DH is in his best behaviour.. he was a total numpty at a party last week and so he's trying to make up for it :o we'll see how long it lasts!
Hope everyone is warm and cosy today x

  • Christmas Eve!! :xmastree: I love it. Sitting here with a coffee while DH and DD are still in bed. I'm counting my blessings. We went to a wedding yesterday, which was just beautiful. Second time for both, and they had drinks in the church after, rather than a reception. It was really simple, but so lovely.
The only room decorated is the sitting room. Normally I do the hall, the stairs, the snug.... this year there has been no time, or energy so I haven't done it. And that's fine, I'm not beating myself up about it. DD has got her bookcases, so she's very happy.
Christmas has been done to budget, thank goodness. Just the three of us for Christmas Day and Boxing Day which is perfect. And then over to see the outlaws .. meh. Can't have everything I guess ;)
Going to have a quick catch up on the threads, but if I don't get back on today I'd like to wish you a happy Christmas xx

  • Signature updated. Need some new goals for 2018, but think they have to start with getting my knee better :o

  • Happy Boxing Day! Lovely day yesterday, opened presents with parents on Skype so they could see DD. She said it was a perfect day :heart:
More of the same planned today minus the present opening of course :)

I want to do some planning today.. financial, for the house, for me. I need a new 90 day goal, and it can't be fitness related as my goals usually are because of my knee. Could be health related, though, so maybe diet? Certainly needs an overhaul. Losing weight would help my knee too. For the house, it's to continue to declutter, and ideally I'd like to decorate the sitting room.
Financial - to pay as much as I can off the debt. I've got a tax bill to pay in Jan, and then it's to attack the cards as hard as I can. We've got 3 holidays next year (one to see parents, which my darling dad has paid for) & 2 short breaks away in the caravan. I need to get my emergency fund to £1000 as well. It's currently at £600 but I may need it to pay HMRC.

All in all it's about keeping on plugging away at the debt. Small steps, one day at a time. Bit like dieting I guess
