The desktop size E73 was, perhaps, better value, as you could at least (in theory) change the PSU, put a normal size graphics card in. But there don't appear to be any left at the same price (£290).0 -
yup , glad you agree , sorry I did mean the i5 , not i3 , bearing in mind that the unit from scan (and others) uses a standard motherboard (asus in this case) and there are bios updates from them , the fact that it has a 1t hard drive (I would imagine a £50 upgrade on the misco unit) , the moneys saved could indeed pay for a good i3 upgrade or even a lesser i5 cpu.
I am at present using two machines (asus h81) with the g 3460 , that retails at about £30 more than the g3220 , and is on par with a few i3(s) and a lot of the older i5 and i7 models .
horses for courses tho , it depends what the OP needs (what did he play the games on before?)0 -

Of course you could up your budget and get a better spec machine, it all depends on what exactly you want, and what you want to pay.
Whether it would be cheaper to buy a bundle, hmmm, goodness knows. Really, you'd have to find your ideal desktop specs and then compare prices with a bundle package. I somehow doubt it will be cheaper, but then I may well be wrong.
No definitely not heavier gaming like Call of Duty, Crysis or World of Warcraft just the games I posted. So look for i5 processors then, thanks.
Its just occured to me the monitor at the moment is a VGA so when that needs replacing I'll be stuck with VGA unless you can get VGA and HDMI ports on a desktop OR I go for HDMI now and get a monitor to go with it, maybe £400 for both would be enough.0 -

Not played GTA before but you can download it from the net for free.
I played the other games on a machine I built myself, the mobo was http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3500#ov and the graphics card was http://www.powercolor.com/global/products_features.asp?id=108
Don't have the machine anymore as I sold it.0 -
so the games you are using are utilising the potential of a i5 ?
check the unit from scan Asus H81M-Plus Motherboard , complete with HDMI
check the difference between i3 , i5 and 17

Thanks will do.
That link for the motherboard has both ports which would be good.0 -

Have you thought about building a desktop yourself then? Then, you would get exactly what you want/need for your requirements.0 -

I looked into this , a quality motherboard , CPU , memory , H/drive and a DVD + case come in at more than the unit I mentioned
unless you have parts left over (case / hard drive /dvd) then its not a viable option
however the parts you have leftover are likely to be "old hat" and slow0 -

I had done but my success of building hasn't been good, maybe its something I could look at.0 -

Yes I'd thought of building my own just for the cost perspective and using what I had but anything I have I can't be sure it still works plus its 5 years old.0
