MSE News: Comping success sees MoneySaver win £50k worth of prizes in five years

I don't think it's about being a sore looser at all. I for one am always happy to see winners whenever it's longtime compers or newbies. I regularly tag winners on FB & share competition links I find on this forum for others to enter.
My point is that I'm confused as to what the gain in going public would be, other than to make a quick buck/monetise your own business while unfortunately minimising every other compers odds in the process.
As I consciously only enter things I (or my family) would like to win, it also doesn't sit very well with me when pictures surface alongside these articles with lots of unopened boxes of prizes following the "Look at all the stuff I've won" headline.
What people do with their prizes is up to them but in my opinion it would be sad if someone missed out on something they really wanted to someone who just entered to win for bragging rights...
My latter comment is not aimed specifically at the recent article BTW. I understand Hollie donated prizes to charity which is admirable.0 -
If people are willing to dedicate so much time to comps, then fair play. I tried it when I was off work with a broken leg and got very bored very quickly!
All that form filling! Didn't float my boat.
People entering 300+ per day is a bit obsessive I think. No idea where they get the time to do that? And hold down a job ...
Ah well, horses for courses..0 -
well i mist be doing something wrong havent won anything near that but i comp every day and have been for about 4 yearsWhat goes around-comes around0

I don't think anyone is saying it is not possible to win huge amounts, but would say it is very hard to win huge amounts, comping is a lot of effort for little reward.
Two compers have posted huge wins spread over five years, there are probably thousands of other compers in here that have won little to nothing!!“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

Seems you got a thing against losers. Maybe you should try being nice to them instead of saying they're sore and bitterYou never know what life has instore for you...
Haha how you got it that I have something against sore losers is funny, my point was I have a thing against people being rude and mean on here for no reason.
I like your advice, maybe you should heed it too considering you've stated that being 'extra nice to imaginary friends' is a waste of time haha Pot kettle, maybe? haha0 -
hollymarierose, well done on all your wins. I can't help but notice you have a very low post count though. Have you ever considered putting something back into the forum that you take so much out of, like posting up / sharing some of the competitions that you find for other members to have the opportunity of entering / winning?UEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0

I think the problem is once you are running a business around comping and other promotional activities you have a commercial interest that comes before sharing, which is understable once you make the switch from hobby to running it as a business.0
