I made a new account in 2013 when I got married as my original username had my maiden name in it.
You are completely wrong but I don't need to prove myself to you, if MSE want proof of all the prizes I have won over the last 5 years I can provide this, I can also prove I have been a member of the forum for over 6 years! I don't always post but I 'Thank' enough and know the MSE Competition board like the back of my hand.
Thank you to everyone who have posted positive comments.canterswest wrote: »I spent about 10 mins once looking at your Facebook page at a time you were promoting yourself over a video in Morrisons with a pizza voucher, as I recall. I have not looked at it or anything else of yours since, but screen grabbed what I thought was interesting at the time. I did not know you wrote a blog and have not seen it.
This article does not ring true. It says you joined the forum in 2009 but your first post is 2013. The article says entering competitions is your hobby when my impression is you are running a promotional business which is great. Good luck to you. Perhaps I am wrong.0 -
I'm not a blogger either, I'm a mum of 5 who works full-time and enters comps in my spare time. In the last 3 years I have been lucky enough to win my wedding abroad (25k) a trip to South Africa (6k) a trip to the Cayman Islands (4k) a huge bottle of perfume (2.5k) and vouchers totalling over 1k. Along with various other smaller prizes I would total this up to be approx 40k - so it CAN be done!!
And before I get any negativity, I am a genuine comper who loves using MSE (and I thank accordingly)- I am very organised, choosy about what I enter and I guess I'm also incredibly lucky!!0 -

Wow that's amazing!0 -
Good on everyone entering comps and winning, but I do wonder why anyone would want the publicity though?
I would worry that some companies would avoid choosing me as a winner because I'm a serial comper as apposed to just stumbling upon their site/being a regular service user.
I also wonder why you'd encourage others which in turn lowers your own odds. I've no issue with people stumbling upon the forums and joining in (we all had to start somewhere, myself included) but not sure why you'd openly promote and encourage ...errr...competition?
Just my opinion of course.0 -

Usually for the money (from the press) and sometimes they have something to promote.0 -
I endorse the previous comment, and the "article" or advert is simply the business that is MSE advertising its wares and giving publicity to Hollie's business.
If you want to go for any prize out there whether it interests you or not there's no law against it, but it didn't take me long to realise that with most prizes there are people entering who would dearly love to win it, even a low value one, so if I'm so-so about it I leave it to someone who'd really appreciate it.
It's someone being able to enter 600 comps a day that gets me going. If I did little else I might manage 100 though I'm retired. A normal day with interruptions and other everyday things, maybe 60. I can just see people who've never dipped their toes in thinking - 600 a day? Wow, how do I start? when for most people that sort of figure is totally unrealistic.0 -

We may as well say my hobby is catching dust particles but you have to enjoy it and not get frustrated when you never catch anything. But it's good though I get to waste hours on end every day and be extra nice to all my fellow imaginary friends on a computer instead of living in the real world, whilst we all catch dust particles. Some of us catch 9 particles a month! :rotfl:
But people still play the lottery even if the chances of winning are slim and it's the same here, we do it because even though the chances are slim, there is still a chance. And what does it matter if I or others have been doing 'comping' for longer than a newbie who found out about comping from a Daily Mail article, it doesn't entitle us to win more than them. The people who enjoy comping will stick around and those who find it a 'waste of time' will slowly dwindle off, if people feel like comping is 'wasting time' then why do it in the first place?
Yeah, I suppose being nice to people may come as a hard thing to do for some people face to face and with 'imaginary' people online, however, myself and many others don't find it hard to be nice and it baffles me that with all the congratulations and great things on this site there are so many bitter people out there.
Oh well, fact of life that there are always sore losers0
