Just posted this on the haggling board -
I got given some money for my birthday and decided to use it to buy a handbag as the one I have been using has had a broken zip for nearly a year. I had a particular style in mind but no matter where I went I couldn't find it. Then heading back to the car my husband happened to look in a shop window that hired kilts. There on a shelf were a couple of bags. We went in and I took down one of the bags. It was covered in dust and I said to the salesperson it had obviously been there a while. I um-ed and ah-ed a bit then asked if there was any chance of a discount. She said as I had pointed out it had been there a while I could have it for £50. It should have been £85. Result. :j It was also stuffed with carrier bags used to help it sit properly on the shelf and she left them in there. 8 decent thick carrier bags for free :rotfl:The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Debts - all letters informing our creditors that we are taking the dmp back into our own hands have been printed, stuck into envelopes and are just waiting on stamps which DH will do tomorrow.
Have also found out that I could try and get a PPI mis-selling claim on an old debenhams card. I had heard it was no use going through santander as they always said they were not mis-sold but have read I can try through the original underwriter so going to do that.
Diet - well it depends on where on the floor I set the scales. Our floor isn't very even and the scales are digital so they are affected by the uneven floor. I tried three different spots on the floor and if I go by the lowest loss then I have lost a further 2lbs. Shame I can't go by the highest loss as that was 6lbs :rotfl: but my clothes don't feel like I have lost half a stone in two weeks.
DIY - been put on the back burner while I go through all of the paperwork for our predators. I am a bit of a paper hoarder so will have everything but we started using a filing cabinet after being on the dmp three years and the paperwork from prior to that never made it in there so going through it all and filing by date.
Happy Mother's day everyone. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Good luck with the PPI claim. We have sent off two enquiries on some loans we had with Direct Line and Northern Rock. I am sure we didn't take out PPI but apparently some companies added it without customers realising.....I'm now hoping this may have been the case with us;)DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Debts - Phonecall regarding the Debenhams PPI done. Very nice Irish guy but very quiet and hard to hear exactly what he was saying. My account is not on their system - I knew it wouldn't be which is why I didn't pursue it further with santander - but he has taken all of the details and said they have 8 weeks to get back to me with a result, unless they need more info in which case they will be in touch sooner. I'll get DH to phone HSBC about his gold card on Thurs or Friday when I am at home because no doubt he will need to pass the phone over to me A- he hates talking on the phone and B- he doesn't know what he is talking about anyway
Diet - I've had a ham omelette and two cups of coffee today. I am starving but all I am allowing myself is another coffee later. Can't wait until breakfast :rotfl:
DIY - still on hold as now also need to sort out anything that might be needed for the ppi claims - debenhams account has not been used since before the dmp and the hsbc was part of the dmp so it's been a while since any of the paperwork was seen - it will be nice and safe in a box :rotfl:The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Had first predator get in touch since informing them all that we are going self-managed so CCA request getting printed off today. They are our smallest debt so if they manage to come back with an enforceable CCA we will offer them a F&F. They have definitely already had back our original loan amount and what is left is purely added interest and charges added on by the loan company before they sold it on.The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Scottishmummy wrote: »Well I've heard from another of my predators so CCA sent to them too. They have put my account on hold for 30 days anyway until I hear from all of my predators and can work out pro-rata payments. They are my largest debt and if they are able to find a CCA then the payment to them would be almost doubling compared to what SC were paying them so quite happy to not have to pay that for another month. They didn't give me any payment details so their next payment would have to wait anyway until I had next been in contact. This is the one I really hope becomes unenforceable. Getting rid of it alone would knock 6 years off my debt free date.
Have quoted my post from the DFW board. This is where we are at today. This debt has been sold on at least twice and is from a loan taken out pre-2004 so hopefully there will be no CCA available. Two CCA's down and 8 to go once we hear back from everyone else. Also two ex bank accounts to try and get rid of but not too sure how to go about that yet. Might try and get a refund of charges first. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Debts - Came home to a pile of mail. Three predators covering 6 debts which include the two bank accounts. So two CCA requests sent off to the other two predators and I'll get one sent off for the loan and credit card that are also with the bank account predator but will need to get postal orders for those. We have been sending the CCA requests with cheques signed by each other just in case they try and copy the signatures (paranoia much?) but we both have debts with cabot so not signing anything here. The letters just have script signatures printed so nothing like our real signatures.
Genworth came back and said they didn't sell me the ppi on my debenhams but that santander did and have forwarded it on to santander. I know it was definitely, absolutely not santander as it was still GE Money when I closed the account. I actually saw the original CCA before xmas but I put it somewhere safeand of course now can't find it
Diets - Well over the last four weeks I have lost 2lbs, lost 2lbs, gained 4lbs and now lost 11lbs so not really sure exactly where I am at. I have definitely lost something as my jeans feel a little looser but not sure I have lost 11lbs.
DIY - done a few small bits like replace bathroom lock, replace toilet seat and fix kitchen cupboard doors that were not closing properly but nothing major. Still so much needing done. I'm spending too much time on the pc doing spreadsheets and letters etc.
Everything will get there in the end.The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Officially I know they only get 12+2 days but does this get extended if they have to refer? In the meantime they want me to continue paying...um No! While the account is in dispute you will be receiving not one penny from me mr predator.
Have also heard back from one of DH's predators re the dmp. Not going to send them the CCA request just yet as having gone through paperwork recently it turns out he was paying PPI which neither of us realised so a mis-selling complaint is in motion - don't want to rock the boat until that is completed.
Copied the above from the DMP thread. The predator that DH has PPI with is a credit card. The final statement before starting the DMP was in with all the dmp paperwork and shows that for that month at least he was paying £45 ppi:eek: Need to access the loft to find more statements. That will be the job for the weekend. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.
