  • So day one of being back on the 5:2 and it has gone well so far. Have had less than 300 calories so room for something small later if I feel I need it. Mondays are a day of doing reports and other assorted paperwork so not particularly active. The rest of the week at work is a good bit more active so it will be interesting to see how I feel on my other fast day.

I keep meaning to give this 5:2 diet a try. Will have to google how it works.

Good luck with the diet - if you keep at it, like you keep at the debt busting, you will succeed :)

I bought Dr Michael Mosley's book when it first came out (using quidco cashback :) ) and managed to lose two stone but then my thyroid deteriorated further and I put it all back on again plus a bit more.

    Morning SM!
Very impressed with how well you've been doing, especially being ill as well. Hopefully the wall won't be too much of a problem, hopefully you've caught it reasonably early.

Thank you Claree. We hope so too. Unfortunately the downpipe is cast iron and I think replacing it with a plastic one is not going to work. Will have to see if there are any reclamation yards around that have any the right length. For the moment though, DH has wrapped plastic around it to prevent the wall getting any wetter.

  • Well today was a horrible, horrible day. Work was horrendously busy and then they announced some potentially major changes which will affect about 25% of us. Thankfully not job losses but restructuring which might not be pleasant.

And to top today off smallboy has just woken up in tears and won't tell me why

We had the same problem with a downpipe - we asked about replacing the cast iron with a plastic pipe and we were told it wasn't recommended 'cause the cast iron is generally a better pipe...not much good to us if it's leaking though!

Eek on the restructuring - have they given you detail or is there any chance it won't be as bad as you think?

Hope tiny child is okay x
  • I think small boy was just upset that I wasn't there. We co-sleep and he had actually gone down earlier than usual so had woken up expecting me to be there too and got upset because I wasn't.

No news on the restructuring really, this was an advance notice prior to full details towards the end of next month by the sounds of it.

  • So some good news today. A £25 M&S gift card as a thank you for baking a birthday cake for someone. It probably only cost about £6 in ingredients and I was baking for ourselves anyway so that is a bonus. Will either treat ourselves to some nice M&S biscuits or keep it until we see what is happening at work incase I really don't want to stay and need some new interview clothing.

Off to start getting some letters ready for when SC get all the current paperwork to me.

  • Haven't heard from SC yet. Getting impatient. I emailed last week to ask how long it normally takes and I haven't even had a reply from that. If I get home from work early enough on Monday I'll phone them if not it will have to be Wed.

Payday last wed so have transferred money to the various bank accounts. Won't need to check the accounts again until next weekend.

I don't really have any news. Life has just been its usual mundane self since I last posted.

  • Apparently all the paperwork has been posted out by SC. Hopefully will be with us by tomorrow and they will close the account once they have dealt with our last payment.

Have lost 2lbs :) My second fast day on Thursday was not quite as successful as last Monday. I think I had about 750 calories but I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Another fast day today and my stomach has been rumbling all day so far.

Have just emailed over a report that I'm not sure was exactly what they were looking for. As soon as I emailed it I thought of something I should have added but too late. I'll make changes if it comes back to me.

Off to have a drink of water for lunch :D
