  • Saw this and thought of you....good things do happen sometimes :)

Really pleased they are not going to be able to ruin other peoples lives eventually - they still have a few months to do so.

The update here is I phoned them on Saturday to see what was happening and they had made their calculations on Wednesday which showed that we were overpaid slightly so they will have to make adjustments to our payments - when they eventually start paying us again of course. Person I spoke to said it had to get passed on to finalisation team to double check the figures so i thought - here we go again, more months of waiting and they said no, I should have a letter within the week. So a week has passed and no letter so I am going to phone HMRC on monday to see if they have been updated yet. I just hope they back date our payments because I have read about others that didn't get back dated.

  • Debts - been getting a few phonecalls from a couple of DC's that debts had been passed on to. Both were from debts that we had not had CCA's back from so letters went off to them and we have had replies back from both saying they will request the paperwork again and that they will not pursue further until they have completed the request. Phonecalls have stopped - !!!-ent were phoning daily. Must total up the ones that we are not paying anything to and see where we stand now - been a bit lax at updating the all inclusive spreadsheet - only been updating individual ones where we make payments.

    Diet - :rotfl:

DIY - had a mad chucking out weekend. Unbelievable the amount of rubbish in DD's room - still not finished. Realised that the youngest DS didn't really have any trousers that were still covering his ankles :o so was trying to find a box of clothes that I knew we had put away from oldest DS. Unfortunately not too many pieces of clothing for his current age as we had given most of them away but quite a few for him to grow into in the next year.

The hedge desperately needs cut. Trying to persuade the oldest to do it for extra pocket money but DH not keen on letting him use the hedgecutter as it's so heavy but it would take him all year to cut by hand with hedge shears so we will have to see if it gets cut at all this year.

Work - have had another couple of interviews but in both cases they ended up promoting someone internal. There is another job I am interested in but have a feeling the exact same thing is going to happen there. Why do departments bother advertising externally if they know they already have someone internal in mind? Have until tuesday to get my application in. With the changes at work that are going on it just isn't the same place I joined but i am not sure this other post will satisfy me for long which is why the application isn't already in.

  • Didn't realise it had been over a month since I last updated. Not much to report really. Two more interviews - both unsuccessful. :( Things have got worse at work and it all came to a head. A couple of people have put in a grievance and I am considering joining them. We have been offered two options. One option is good for some people but causes problems for others. The other option works the other way around - good for the others but not for the first lot. What ever happens half the staff are going to be upset. Oh well!

    Happy New Year

Hope everyone has had a good christmas and that the new year brings everything they wish for.

We opened our various tins and had managed to save over £3000. :j £2000 of that will be replacing the PPI money that we ended up using while con(untrix were doing their investigating so that ups the F&F pot again. £1000 will eventually go towards whatever we plan on doing for our holiday this year - probably camping again but possibly the Outer Hebrides for a change. But first of all about £120 of that is £2 coins that might be worth more than their face value so will try and sell them on ebay and see if we can top that up a bit.

So new tins started. I don't think we'll save as much as that again because the £2 tin was actually over more like 18 months but we'll see how it goes.

Well, well well. Long time no see. As you can tell I really am hopeless at keeping up with this diary. Haven't been on MSE at all really for so long. Still noticing familiar names so would be interesting to see if anyone still notices/reads this diary. Need to have a read back to see what I was talking about and what news I need to report. Debtwise there have been improvements, Diet is a disaster but DIY is complete on any major things, just the routine annual upkeep going on now.

Will do a proper update later. I plan on using this again because I turn 50 in 2022 and want to be healthier and happier by then. With a little tweaking we should be mortgage free by my birthday. It would be great to be at my goal weight and just have the dregs of the final debts to still pay off.

So debts - Have been slowly working away on our dmp. It's still going to take a long time but we will get there eventually. I mentioned in a previous post that what we were setting aside in our dmp for maintenance and emergencies we were adding to our mortgage because we can take it back out if we need to. We have been able to continue to do that so the mortgage is looking really good. :T If we could add another £15 per month to that we would be mortgage free by the time I turn 50 as long as mortgage rates stay the same. This would then free up over £300 a month for the debts. We might just need to tighten the belts a bit further until then.

Diet - unfortunately my health took a bit of a dive at the end of 2017 and to begin with I was losing weight however medication has caused me to put on weight to the point I am now at the heaviest I have ever been. I have been off that medication for four weeks now and hopefully I shall slowly start to lose some of that weight. Exercise is a no go still for the foreseeable so it is all going to have to be through diet.

DIY - our house is now at the stage it only needs the normal maintenance as far as the indoors go i.e. a bit of paint here and there where it's got marked or damaged. The back of the house desperately needs painted but we need to replace guttering too so that is going to cost a bit. As for the garden lets just not go there just now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
