Not quite but she was in hospital for nearly the full week. Thought paternity was meant to start from the birth of child but then this is hard to police I guess for the company? Just thought it was from birth and therefore nearly two weeks at home (depending on circumstances after birth) settling in etc rather than trips to and from hospital to see the new family member and not getting to spend almost all the time with them.

Perfectly easy for you to show birth certificate after the event to prove to the company when baby was born.

That said, I'm not sure what you wanted - did you ask to go on leave when your wife was induced or are you saying you were made to start it earlier than you wanted to?

Or, was your wife induced because she was overdue? In which case, the leave may have started on the due date (certainly the case for women).
