    So far so good.

I signed up at the end of March and they started supplying me on 23rd April. I've already had my final bill and refund from First Utility so that all worked without any prompting.

I've had my reading reminder from GB which I've sent off, just waiting to scrutinise my first statement, hopefully sometime next week. I will be downloading my monthly statements and keeping them for posterity, the same as I've done with FU, and Scottish Power & Eon & EDF before them

As far as I can see it's the cheapest that I can get from anywhere at the moment so I'm quite happy
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

I have submitted readings every month which I realise most people would find a pain but I don't think this is mandatory as they always estimate for the last few days of each month anyway.
Readings every month not mandatory - I switched in November as well and have only done readings in February and May (I did contact them by email to say readings would be irregular). No problems so far.

GB Energy are supposed to be taking over my electric on the 27th but I can't submit any readings online as it says no meter details. They do have this as I've had the welcome pack quite some time with all the relevent info such as DD amount.

They've taken the first lot of DD last week but it's not reflected online.

Should I give them a ring or is this the norm?

As I recall it, I entered my first meter reading by email on the date of my switch. Thereafter, the system has allowed normal input for monthly readings. You will get a reminder by email to submit your monthly reading some days in advance. I leave it until the same day of the month so that I get monthly accurate bills.

It is normal for them to take a month in advance payment and I am sure it will show once the supply switch is fully completed.

I think everything is in order but if not happy give them a ring. It's a freephone number.

I have been a customer for over three months and GB Energy are easily the cheapest Supplier for my electricity. I am not currently a dual fuel customer.

I like the bills and online system. Simple and unfussy.

I contacted them today by phone and got through immediately. At my request, they agreed to a reduction in DD from £44 to £35 per month as I have better managed my consumption recently. Monitoring really does work !:T

Good price, good service. Keep it up.

We all like things to happen instantly. Sadly, the domestic energy sector runs on industry procedures that would do a Third-World country proud. That said, no supplier can set up your online account until (a) it knows that the transfer has actually gone through and (b) the opening and closing meter readings have been agreed by the independent reviewing authority (data collectors). I suggest that you wait for a couple of weeks post the 27th before worrying. FWiW, E.oN told me last year that it could take up to 5 weeks from switch for them to set up an online electricity account.

Using GB for electricity. The switch went OK, except that the first reading wasn't available in my account in the morning of the switch day when I first tried. At night it worked (I took a photo of the reading in the morning though). So far we had our first bill and everything is as expected. No issues so far.

Had to call them again today as the system wouldn't accept my readings. Their system has rules built in to try to block what it thinks is erronous readings being entered.

The problem is they add an estimate value for the time between your reading and the bill date, in my case they had added really daft values which made my real readings look unlikely to the system.

IMPORTANT - they acknowledged that the 'take a reading' emails go out too early and told me you should submit readings on the monthly anniversary of your switch over, not when the emails ask for one. This will prevent the estimating errors and give you better bills.

One other thing, they said they are working on an app, that would be good, I miss the excellent one with First Utility that made readings so easy.

It won't happen for the reason given above. The reading on transfer goes to an independent third party for review/adjustment. The introduction of smart meters (transferable) will eliminate this review process. Why is the review process necessary? Some people misread their meter and some just lie if they think that there is financial advantage in doing so.

I spotted on the energy club that GB Energy have launched yet another fixed rate tariff - Fixed 12 Topaz.

This, for the Midlands region at least, reduces the electricity tariff rate from the current ever-so-slightly-over-10p a unit on the variable rate to 9.849p with the same standing charge @ 15.75p per day.

Over the previous ruby tariff, this is a £3 saving, which is now just under £6 cheaper over the variable tariff for me.

Interestingly though, Energy Club now says its the cheapest dual-fuel tariff for me, though GB's gas price on Topaz is still quite high compared to Zog.
