The idea was that just dusting the bedroom would be an improvement. I'm now half way through spring cleaning it which wasn't the intention but once it's done I'll only have to wash the carpet when the weather improves. Eventually as I progress around the room I'll get to the cupboard where I think the American shoes are, behind the bed. It should be empty by tonight. *please, oh please* Mrs Dog is not crazy about having her bedding washed and moved about but needs must. Her vintage crumb collection has been put out for the birds.
A big pile of gibble has also been removed from the attic and will either to to CS (unlikely, I can't find things that should be with some of the stuff like screws and bolts) and four great big poetry tomes have been put out as well. We only went up there to get a picture frame.Better is good enough.0 -
Bathroom half cleaned
Spoke to sis on the phone and no surprises she is reneging on her side of looking after Mum (because her horrid BF who does not like Mum does not think she should be doing it). Managed to keep my calm but am mighty p££d off.
Right need to finish bathroom, HH in the garden to fill the wheelie a bit and then pop to shops for Mum's bits and cat litter. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Oh dusty I do hope your sister pulls up and give your mum help and support its very draining and difficult to do it on your own. Hugs to you and I hope things work out. I'm lucky in that I only work during school lunchtimes and live so close to mil.
Had to ring her this morning to get her to chase Drs appts over the weekend I was confirming with her what we had on this week, I was with her when the nurse told her the warfarin appt time so knew I had it written down correctly but mil had a different time. The Drs appt she was given during the phone consult she told me it was 9am when I rang her but at the weekend she had 2.30 written in her diary. After she rang to check she was told it is actually 10,50 good job I got her to ring.
I'm going to have to go see my hairdresser tomorrow as I texted to see if I could change appt when I thought it clashed with the 9am appt she was going to text me back when she'd checked her book but hasn't yet. So I don't know if I've still got a hair appt for my roots.SPC~12 ot 124
In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
Dusty I have a friend who is going through something similar. She has ended up doing most of the care for her elderly parents and she cant get her brother and sister to either roll up their sleeves and pitch in with the practical stuff, or help to make any long term decisions about their parents future. It sounds like a very tough time for you.
Well, its a beautiful day here, almost spring like. So I won't moan about the fact that DH and eldest son have been at home for most of the morning but not managed to wash up or empty/reload the dishwasher. I have now done it myself.
The washing machine is going so now I need to settle down with some paid stuff for an hour. Just need the garage to ring and update me about the car and all will be well.0 -
Dusty I sympathise; when my grandmother was poorly having had 3 strokes in fairly swift succession, my mother and I took on everything between us; it was hard, my mother never learned to drive, and although I could drive I had no car at that time; my aunt (mother's sister) who could drive and had access to a car, did sweet f.a to help, but after my grandmother died, she was in there like a shot and virtually emptied the bungalow..... and car-booted the lot!!
All I can really offer is healing vibes for your Mum and a (((HUG))) for you - and my hopes that your Sis will tell the BF to go and do one, and step up to the plate to help.
Anyways - I'm Flip-Flapping, if not Flying, as best I can; having to rest very frequently, but progress is being made.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Thanks for the lists Dusty and Natty
I have decluttered six old diaries,one from 1996!0 -
Sorry to hear that Dusty, hope things get easier soon and that sis pitches in. I've had a largely successful start to the day here now, though have lost all motivation now! Both slow cookers are on so dinner and tomorrow's lunches are done, which is something to celebrate at least.

Valli - I need to make blackcurrant jam from frozen berries, do I need to defrost first and do I weigh as usual even though frozen.
Bus did not stop so had to go and get DS3 which has put me behind schedule.
Still I got some time in the garden. Need to get DS3 to cook his own dinner, DS1 is home doing his and then go and get Mum's shopping and visit her.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
