It's such a dull time of year with GUAG disappearing down the drain all over the place that I've decided I'm focussing on some great advice I heard the other day. No matter what, spend 30 minutes every day doing something you love.
I got the American shoes sorted out last night and have several pairs never worn to go to the CS, so they'll be chuffed, and while I was up in the attic finding them I also managed to unearth the curtain rings that have been up there for oooooooooohhhhh - 20 years. Utterly pointless, all of this carp. I stopped thinking about making lovely crafty things out of them at 9.00pm and actually made a couple and I love them! I might need to buy some glue, given that my old tube of Uhu seems to be a bit gunky, but the aim is not to buy anything at all for this project. In the meantime, I had a lovely time and it's all in the name of decluttering. Result!
Dusty, I get down on my hands and knees to do the kitchen floor fairly regularly but when I just cba I wrap a microfiber cloth around the broom and swish it over the bits that show. The combination of choices now keeps it under control which is just as well because people sitting at the dining table are at the eye height of the kitchen floor. Big mistake in the planning department there, but the overall effect makes it worthwhile as long as I keep the floor under control.Better is good enough.0 -
kitchen floors are fun.. I have 2 of those sponges with the green scrubby side.. I put my shoes on stand on sponges.. scrubby side down and dance my floor clean.. slopping liberal amounts of hot water and bleach down.. but it gets the sticky stuff off.. I then do a quick slop over with the mop to lift the loose dirt and excess water.
Today is going to be a long one..
I got a plate out to make a cup of tea.. and Pixie disabled my phone for 5 minutes in about 3 seconds..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Hello all
DW emptied; Wm x 2 on line
Dustbin washed out with hot water and disinfectant - was dusty due to dust from vacuum but not icky; it's now upside down drying.
Bunny in run.
Mum been. She was going to visit a friend later but friend has cancelled - so I got the flowers she bought her! Woot! Given her half a dozen free range eggs.
Now going to do work stuff, as house is tidy and clean. So much so mum removed her shoes :rotfl:

WM1 emptied, going to reload
Kittens have learnt to empty the cupboard, get in the bin and drag rubbish around. Let them in the back garden but the chattering swooping magpies scared them straight back in.
I've got 2 hours now to fly, frog munch and do online orders. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Just dropping in between students.
Natty belated birthday greetings; sorry it wasn't a good one and hope your injuries progress.
Dusty yes well tell me about coaxing someone through poor appetite. Mr N has finally, this last week, picked up on appetite which bearing in mind his op was 13th Dec may give some indication. It's a complex mix of exhaustion, medication, after-effects of surgery and anaesthesia. One of my students who is a trainee dietician said it is important to try and give a variety of colour in food, to stimulate interest. I have to grit my teeth and throw unwanted food away; we are usually very careful and waste nothing, but the only solution in the last couple of months has been to have a whole range of small snacks available as he can't predict from one minute to the next what he will be able to eat. And he is usually not at all fussy; will eat anything, so I know he isn't doing it on purpose.
It is really strange having a flyman at home; much as I dislike housework, I feel almost redundant and was struggling to be motivated to do much when not working, feeling really down and tetchy. Then I remembered: we went out for a meal for MIL's birthday a few days ago, and I suspected the crispy outside of the rice balls I'd chosen was breadcrumbs. Seems I was right; wheat attracts BD horrendously to me and my mental health plummets. I can cope with work which is scheduled, but any "free time" involving choice, decisions or letting my brain choose what to think just makes me want to hide in a dark cupboard.
Just decluttered lots of emails and student just arrived. Happy flying.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Kitchen Done!
I had to cancel exercise class this morning, as I am not feeling well.
Sore throat, swollen glands. Wretched germy kids and teachers at school! I'm going to take it easy today, and see if I can fight it off.
Just picked up DD from uni - they have moved her seminar to 1pm, then she has another from 4-6pm, so wanted to come home for a break and lunch.
Online shopping next on the list.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Hi all
Dusty would you mum have some complan? My mum had gastric surgery last September and was really worried about eating for a while but after getting her some of that she really picked up and got her confidence with food back. They're not ideal in their sugar levels so no good for diabetics but handy as a short term to get some calories, vitamins and minerals in xxx
Day at home with DD. 2 games played and a jigsaw put together. Made cottage pie for lunch and sorted one wash load.
Will put another on shortly then I need to clean the hall floor. Probably with a clothBossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0 -
Sorry that I am only just getting on now. I had some errands to run and then had 2 hours before lunch. So sausage casserole in slow cooker. Wm and dw all done. Then I started doing some filing as we have an 'in' tray in our study and one in the kitchen and they were both both over flowing. Can't remember the last time I did it! It's not finished but it is all now in piles so I can sit down and file it away one evening. Filed all my payslips. How many years do you have to keep them for? I have some dating back to 2005. I have put them in the pile to shred!
