I first joined this site a few years ago when my debt was so out of control I didn't know how to tackle it. I have been on a very long journey and although I do not post, I am an avid reader. I think I have been quite selfish in not sharing or thanking people, but we all have our journeys to make, and this was how I dealt with mine.
By the end of this year I will be debt free for the first time in 26 years and wanted to say thank you to everyone that shares their experience. Being in debt can be a very lonely experience, it certainly has been for me. But this forum has kept me going through the ups and downs of my journey and everyone that has contributed has my absolute respect and gratitude.
If you are only just coming to terms with your debt and do not know where to turn, this forum is a great starting point, if you feel lonely, isolated or that you are the only one to get this low, you are not. You are not the first, will definitely not be the last and there is someone out there that knows how it feels and can offer help, advice and hope.
My most humble thanks to you all xx

Thank you both, I know it helped me reading about people that have stuck with it and made it to the end!
Although I still have a lot of debt, I have paid off the high interest ones and the mortgage was paid off in December 2014 so am in a better position than before. Its strange that I feel far more anxious now about my debt levels than I did when it was at its biggest, the mind certainly has a big part in this process I think.

Well done on achieving such amazing results with your debt.
Not everyone likes to post about it and that's fine, it's about the journey and the result, however you find best to do it.
Keep it up :T
All the best

Oh well done on your achievement so far:)
You are right about this forum and all the people on here, it has definitely helped me. I am so inspired by everyone and know that I am not alone on my journey to debt freedom.
I too will be debt-free for the first time in 30 years and can now look forward to a comfortable retirement (I worried so much about how I would service the debt once I finished work).
Take care and good luck

Reading about people who make it is what keeps the rest of us motivated. We are all walking long and lonely paths and it is good to know that at least some find their way out and come back to encourage the rest.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
