:D Got my first review back today, and passed! Yay! I found it nerve wracking at first, but after I'd answered a few my confidence grew and I really enjoyed it.

For anyone just doing their test, or just starting their first 30, I would concentrate firstly on spelling, punctuation and grammar. Get that right, and you're half way there. Then try to fill out as many of the characters as possible, whist giving the best possible answer. Play around with the wording until you get the best fit.

And don't feel pressured into doing it quickly. Make full use of the time you're given. Experience and learning where to look for most answers (save the good links in a seperate folder in your favourites) will save you loads of time when you get more into it.

  • Hi everyone. I've been an AQA researcher since March, and I have to say I really love it. You can earn some decent money once you are used to the rules, and can answer the questions faster.

For new researchers, I would always say:

Read the question thoroughly, and make sure you answer it all if you can.

Double check your spelling and grammar

    Always read the previous question

Don't try and rush. Try not to tell yourself you HAVE to do this amount per day, else it can get stressful, and you're more inclined to rush.

Above all, it's a great job, and it can be great fun. It's perfect as extra income or as a complete part-time job. Above all, you can do it in your slippers or even in bed!

    Perfect :p

A quick question to all the AQA researchers ....... how long does it usually take for your SR to review your first 'proper' 30 answers? I did mine last Thursday, and emailed my SR to let her know. My status has changed to 'suspended' (as expected) but I have heard nothing from my SR since. I assume she must be very busy, but I'm on tenterhooks here!

I still haven't even had an acknowledgement that they have received my test yet or whether I have passed or failed.

    So bloody nervous waiting lol

  • Do you need any minimum qualifications? Or do you just have to do a test. Someone told me that they needed you to have a degree.

Yes, good point, you can really give good value by referencing previous questions/answers where they're relevant.

I had my review quite quickly, within a couple of days. However, I know someone else who's waited quite a few days for their review. I asked my SR today about this, and they are extremely busy with new applications, and are also swamped with reviews. I think the best thing is to be patient, doodledo, and perhaps drop your SR a gentle reminder.

Mandy, I don't believe there are any minimum qualifications, although the application form does ask about your education, as any job application form would. You just need to be able to search the internet and have a good understanding of spelling and grammar.

    Good luck!

    :) James
