  • Hi all, there is some interesting reading here.

I'm an FR for AQA, and frequently earn over £12 per hour, which is infact more than my dayjob :)

In reply to tillyheald's message, if you're thinking of doing AQA on a mac laptop, I highly encourage it. I use a mac, and it boosts my productivity by at least 50% (with the right software installed).

The way to make money using these services (amongst many other ways), is to get to know your operating system. If you're using a mac, install QuickSilver - it is a free productivity enhancement utility, and will help you to no end - even outside of AQA!

Also ditch your mouse. Learn the keyboard shortcuts - do you know how much time you waste moving your hand back and forth from the keyboard to the mouse? Lots. Particulary, grasp the Command+tab (control+tab for Windows) window switching shortcut.

There is so much advice available for internet researchers. You can make good money. But you can also frequently make below minimum wage if you're very slow, and do not have the ability to discard irrelivent information, or get easily sidetracked. Also, if you believe that it is easy money, you will fail.

Anyway, let me know if you have any specific questions. I will try to help you, but only within the realms of my corporate responsibility. I.e., I'm not going to tell you all the secrets!

    Regards,

    Alex.

    Hi Alex

Wow, £12 per hour. That's roughly 40 questions per hour. Putting aside the keyboard shortcuts, how do you do it? I have recently started and am trying to increase my speed, but it takes several minutes to find any answer and I always get stuck with the ego texts - "tell me about (insert name) from some town" or where does some surname originate. I am interested in hearing how you handle those ones.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for that. Do you have any knowledge of something similar to Quicksilver for PC? Also any links that you may have that might help us would be much appreciated.

I joined this forum last night because of these AQA threads and have found out lots of stuff. I sent my application in to Rowina at 2am and now have to sit on my heels and wait until I hear something. It's all very exciting.

Any info that the 'old hands' can give would be great. What was the best question you ever had? The worst? I submitted my free question, which was, "What name would you suggest for a black female kitten and why?" and got a brilliant reply... which is on my phone downstairs and I am too lazy to go and find it! The names suggested were "Ember" or "Snowy".

  • I passed my first review today, have to have a chat with my senior researcher and then I'll be up and running! I'm so excited, have really enjoyed the first 30 questions that I had to do for the review and have already learnt a lot. Took me about 2 hours and so far have earned £9. Not bad and plenty of room to improve as I get going.

  • I know this may not be the right section to post but i have a query

I read that a few people applied straight away after failing the test the first time and then bieng accepted straight away the second tine

i applied the first time on sunday failed and was notified by email on monday. I applied again on tuesday and did the test again only to be told i cannot apply within 6 to 8 weeks again. I have to wait and i know i did this test really well.

Is this right? just because ive seen people get through on their second attempt straight after they fail their first attempt.

I had a person call Keith email me.

Wireless is evil! Our proper connection died and we're stuck with cruddy wirelss :( Keeps dropping out on us because the homehub seems to dislike it... plus I think a lot of our neighbours are shunting us off our channel :(

I'd suggest you change your channel then. I had to do this recently because the amount of people that have taken up wireless internet in my street has increased dramatically. After changing from the default channel set on the router it works much better.
  • Preciousb - I haven't heard anyone else getting this. Maybe AQA have changed their rules recently, maybe they are getting bombarded with lots of applications from the same people?

Email again and address it to the senior administrator, Rowina Said. Ask her (I think Rowina is a female name!) to clarify as other applicants you know have been able to reapply immediately.

If you can't reapply, AQA seem to have a high turnover of researchers. Bookmark the site and check it in the new year, vacancies seem to come up quite regularly

It seems they're a bit rubbish at receiving emails. Try sending it again. Usually they wouldn't just ignore your emails.

I'd love to know what FR stands for. Seeing that I am one I'd like to know my job description. :p I know SR stands for Senior Researcher.
  • I'm now free to go! So exciting!

I think AQA get loads of emails so keep trying if your having trouble getting a reply.
