  • I sent an email yesterday asking about my application. It's taking an age! Still no reply.

Maybe they don't like Yahoo email addresses...

  • I emailed them the other day and they said "we recruit in the UK all the time, keep checking the website" so I guess I will.

The Texperts contract requires exclusivity, so you won't be able to work for both AQA and Texperts at the same time.

If that is true then I hope a disgruntled self employed person doesn't decide to take them to court for employment benefits. They really need to check the implications calling people self employed but putting employment restrictions on them.

Or am I misunderstanding and you are actually employed by Texperts, ie they pay your tax and NI etc?

  • What do those of you who are established with AQA think of it as an earning opportunity? Every time I have logged on this week the question:researcher ratio has been low and it seems to me that the ability to earn a meaningful second income is limited somewhat, especially when payment is only 30p per question. I've been logging on during the evening and the most questions there have been in the queue has been about 35. Is this unusual?

Also what do you make of your senior researcher? I haven't had much contact with mine yet so hoping she becomes a little nicer over time. She has been critical, which is fine when it's warranted, but doesn't offer any encouragement or positive support.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this... I have exclusivity clauses in some contracts with clients, but it doesn't mean they have to sort out my tax!

During training, texperts are employees and are paid an hourly rate, with the company paying tax & NI. After training, texperts are self-employed, earning fees per question answered.

Anyone know how much Textperts pay, is it set shifts and is it true you can't work for AQA at the same time?

    Thanks

I have recently started at AQA and from reading their forums I gather that the amount of questions available varies but is usually very high at the weekends. The payment may seem very small, but it all adds up. How much you make really depends on how much time you are willing to put into it. Personally, I am enjoying it and I am learning a lot of useful information. Great for quizzing. I was quite surprised when a question I answered came up on 'Eggheads'.
