Every time I have logged on this week the question:researcher ratio has been low and it seems to me that the ability to earn a meaningful second income is limited somewhat, especially when payment is only 30p per question. I've been logging on during the evening and the most questions there have been in the queue has been about 35. Is this unusual?
Also what do you make of your senior researcher? I haven't had much contact with mine yet so hoping she becomes a little nicer over time. She has been critical, which is fine when it's warranted, but doesn't offer any encouragement or positive support.
You will find towards the end of the month, particularly the last few days, that the amount of questions drop as researchers improve their hard question and skip rates, therefore there are more people answering questions.
As for the senior researchers, you will find you will mostly have contact when they do your reviews or they highlight something wrong, just treat the job as a pure money earning exercise, your only getting paid 30p per answer so I make it as easy as possible, answering easier questions as quickly as possible and just keeping on top of the hard question and skip rates.
Hope this helps.0 -

I had, about 5 years ago, extensive dealings with the Inland Revenue, about the issue of self employment and what it means to them. Basically there are several 'pointers' that to the IR means that you are actually an employed person and not self employed. It doesn't matter what you are called, the facts of the matter are what is important. The biggie for us was not being able to outsource and not being able to refuse to work without notice being given but there are other indications. There have been several cases where people who are self employed have taken their client to court and proved they are actually employed and are entitled to certain benefits.
Exclusivity, coupled with the demand that you personally do the work plus the fact that you do not risk anything in the venture are pointers to employment.
Providing your own equipment, choosing your own hours of work, being paid piecework are all pointers of self employment.
I'm sure Textperts have their own legal bods (who know a lot more than I do) who tell them what side of the line they lie - but like I said other companies have been caught out, often by disgruntled workers.

Anyone done AQA cash in hand? I doubt most AQA workers would earn above the threshold anyway so no tax evasion would be going on.0

Thanks
The Texperts contract requires that you do not work for another SMS service, so you couldn't work for AQA at the same time.

Anyone else having trouble getting in touch with their SR?
Is it impossible to add a contact to Yahoo messenger if they're not online? I keep getting an error.
(Hate yahoo)My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

So far I've found the SR's very helpful.
No-one's answered the question about Texperts yet. I was accepted by both but had to wait for training from Texperts, so in the mean time I've been working for AQA. Don't know what to do when Texperts get in touch. Will probably just stick with AQA as I know the score now. But I guess it depends if Texperts pay well. There certainly seems to be more people on here doing AQA.0 -
I got rejected even though I was quite confident with the answers.
I believe they have more researchers than they need as the UK vacancies have been taken off.I know nothing0 -

Thanks a lot! That's amazing, the turnover rate of researchers must be incredible as I can imagine. It's one of those jobs that people lose interest pretty quickly, for the vast majority anyway. I just reapplied, here we go again. :-)I know nothing0
