No. It is not for ground where you want to grow stuff. You want a weedkiller which just has glyphosate as its active ingredient. Wait until the weeds have started growing until applying it -probably another month or two.
http://www.allotment-garden.org/allotment-growing.php is a useful website. There are articles on clearing a plot, as well as individual veggies and a chat forum.0 -
Ok, thanks Yorkie. Wait until the weeds have started growing? Umm my garden is basically a huge weed, LOL.
I'll take a photo tomorrow and show you.
So, i know its not quite growing veg, but i bought some herb plants from Aldi and am going to be re-potting them tomorrow in the hope that they'll grow.
My 1st newbie question- I will be buying compost and chucking some potato peelings into a bag. I understand that i need to use quarter of a bag of compost to start with and then just keep topping up with soil and that they'll grow. Is that correct, and can i do it outside, or is it still too cold? There is no frost on the ground (only in the early mornings) and its actually sunny.
Also, would the same thing work with carrots, or do they need to be planted properly?0 -

Are you planning to grow potatoes from the peelings?0 -

Go to your nearest Poundland - they have seed potatoes there £1 for one bag of 8 to plant.:D0 -
My local poundland is an hours drive away, LOL.
I'll stick to the herbs for a minute.0 -

To be honest you could easily source the stuff there for less than the postage they are charging.
I use old compost bags to grow potatoes - it means they are not too big or heavy if you want to move them.0 -
Hi
You could start by having a look at this http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/sites/www.gardenorganic.org.uk/files/resources/fflp/A59-Setting-up-a-square-foot-garden.pdf
They have a mass of other short guides on other aspects of gardening.
The biggest issue you need to sort out is aspect. When you stand with the house at your back at midday where is the sun, to the left, right, behind you?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
