I got a bit extra this month too benben and when I checked it was because I'd paid a bit less in tax - could be where your extra came from.

  • The controversial tax proposals in last year's Budget came to fruition in April so salaried people would notice a difference in their wage packets this month. The basic rate of income tax went down from 22p to 20p and the lowest rate of 10p was abolished although the government are trying to sort out the people who will lose out. That's almost certainly why you've got more this wage packet.

As for surveys, I finally found one in my inbox yesterday :j :j :T only to find that I didn't qualify...

Yeah but I have a really low income so I thought I'd be worse off because of the 10p tax thing   :D

  • Ah right, well in that case I might be talking rubbish ( no change there-admin! ):confused: . Just seems too much of a coincidence that you get extra in an April wage packet.

Might also be a clerical error and you'll get £20 less next month. Cheery soul, aren't I?

The tax free limit increased in April so maybe this helped?

mystery solved ... it was a payrise  although I'm paying more tax so even though the hourly rate has jumped up quite a bit it doesnt seem that much extra by the end of it

I've just phoned tax credits again, as I checked my stuff from them and I was sure they were paying me too much for childcare. I did phone a couple of weeks ago and went through it all with them and thy insited it was right, but today they agreed that I am getting too much so they're going to reassess it now    I know some people will say I shouldnt have bothered calling them again, but it would worry me and they would ask for it back eventually  At least I've got the money they sent me last week which I can use to pay it back ;) Just wish the muppets would try and get it right in the first place or at least listen to me when I phoned up last time

Shame it wasn't the tax and a rise - hopefully Gordo will sort it all out soon.

with child tax credits I usually find they say I've been overpaid, then they deduct from my next years then later they decide I've been underpaid and they give me more! not a simple system...

Evening !!! Ds had another good day at school and has been an acoslute angel tonight :A :D:D He had his swimming lesson then I went to the nearby shopping centre and I bought myself a new pair of jeans ... they were €30 from Gap, I had reckoned on spending over €50 so I was well chuffed ;) I also bought ds some poloshirts and shorts for school as he keeps complaining that the girls can wear summer dresses and he wants to wear a summer uniform  I'm sure he'll freeze but he insists :D

I'm loving this wireless lark, I'm snuggled up in bed all cosy and am trying to decide what to do this weekend ... I do need to do food shopping but other than that I have no plans at all !! The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow then rain on sunday and monday, so I think we ought to make the most if it tomorrow; maybe a trip down the beach or into the forest  Then on the rainy days a bit of ebaying would be good and maybe another swimming trip ;) Anyone else got any plans??
