I have read your thread, Mellymoo. :A and (((((((()))))))).

I have had an extremely stressful morning. Well three days actually. Not in the way of Mellymoo's, nothing life-threatening, nothing to do with health, but something very, very stressful and worrying. Spent all morning pacing up and down, waiting and waiting for a call that I thought wasn't going to come and worrying myself sick about what to do next.
Then I got a call, and things just might be ok now. Not out of the woods until Wednesday, but things seem to be moving. So I sat down and burst into tears. I'm afraid it is times like this when having a partner would be nice.
Perhaps I can try and do something now, and calm down.

    Yes, it would help! :)
Still calming down, but will potter about for a bit and not try and do too much. Then settle down with a crossword, that's good at calming the brain!
Might do a face pack too! :)

  • Big hugs Melly and Pyxis, sorry you are both having such a bad time. Doing something nice for yourselves sounds like a very good idea. Have more hugs.

Hello, Errata! That is a very good point and one I hadn't considered. I have covered all of the tiny little beak cuts in antiseptic cream and hopefully that will stop infection.

Well, I met up with Beau today (to get the money he owed me), and it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. We hugged and in some ways that helped. I think it helped having a proper goodbye. Feel like I have some kind of closure now :)

Also I need to [penguin] the next part
Somebody got hit by a train, at the station of the place I work and I feel terrible about it. I don't know why but it's really upset me and I had to bite my tongue earlier when some woman on the train was complaining about how late she was going to be, I wanted to say to her "don't you realise that a person, a human being felt so bad, so alone that they !!!!ing killed themselves? And you're angry cos it's made you late?" Sorry, it just really gets to me. Obviously I feel terrible for the train driver and people that witnessed it. I just find it so overwhelming sad [/Penguin]

MU, I'd far rather have your reaction than that of selfish woman. Shows you're connected to people, which is a good thing to be in my book.
Glad for you that things went ok with Beau and you were both able to have a reasonable parting. Onwards and upwards.

    True I guess.

Some people just seem to lack basic empathy and it annoys me

It's weird now I've seen Beau I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders

MessedUp...congrats! A well-handled situation. Money back, parted as friends! Brilliant! Pat yourself on the back!

Codemonkey, thank you. And I don't think you're whining at all! I think your reasons are very valid.
Have you tried inviting them for a meal out of the blue, ie not for an occasion? Say you want to practise your hostessing skills, or try out a new dinner-party menu, or some such!
I suppose it wouldn't be much of a birthday treat for you to have to cook your own meal for everyone! :D. But for a non-occasion, it might work?
I'm sorry you've been down lately. I was worrying about you a bit.

For those that now think Pyxis is a loon, I wrote a post about being upset that my parents never make an effort to come and see me and even on my birthday, I have to go and visit them. Then I was ashamed of myself and deleted it.

Hi Pyxis, how are you feeling? Don't worry about me. I'm like a rubber ball - round, get dropped a lot but always bounce back. It's fine. I should probably make the effort to appreciate them while they're still around rather than complaining about what they should be.

For example, the morning of my wedding, when I should have been getting looked after, I was running around taking care of everyone else. There was no champagne (well, there was but I'd bought it myself), I had to make breakfast for everyone and they made a bigger fuss about my bridesmaids appearance than mine. I got zipped into my dress but even that was treated like they were helping me put on a dress for work. I even had to lock the door and set the alarm myself. I could be diasppointed that I didn't get the proper wedding experience, and I was a bit, but its just how they are - my dad prefers my siblings and my mum is so concerned with not showing preference and not interfering, that she goes too far in the oppositr direction. There are very few photos of her on the day and I'm sad about that.

I've tried to talk it through with them, but my dad is too forgetful now and my mum airbrushes history and only ever admits to remembering the good things. They did their best, they're old and they're not going to change now, so I just need to accept it.
