Please don't think I shot you down. I thanked you for the post twice. I think I only need a quite basic spec so wasnt sure if it was good value for to buy something where I also had to add on the cost of the o/s. I will look at them again though. Thank you for your posts.0 -

Shoot him down....for even suggesting on the open forum that you should use a hacked OS on your new system.0 -

Seriously....you need to stop.
Three month warranty is no good and to suggest someone install a hacked OS is not a good idea. So that would add £75 to the price if SCAN do the install.
The budget was £160...remember?
£225 with a three month warranty does not fit the remit. Nor does £210 with no OS.0 -
The problem with the £150 Lenovo, is that it's disposable. You can fit a graphics card and you can swap the 4GB RAM module for 8GB. That's it.
But if that is enough for your needs, then it doesn't matter.
If you don't mind a refurb(12 month warranty); DELL Outlet have this for £191:Inspiron 3847 Desktop • Inspiron 3847 Desktop
• Processor: Intel® Pentium® G3240 (3M Cache, 3.1GHz)
• Windows® 8.1
• 1 TB SATA III Hard Drive (7200RPM)
• Memory : 4 GB (1x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3
• Back Up Media Not Included
• Windows® 8.1 (64 Bit) English
• 16X DVD +/- RW Drive
• Dell Wireless-N 1705 + Bluetooth 4.0
• Mini-Tower Chassis
• Dell USB Keyboard0 -

Thanks much appreciated. I did like my Dell but have had nothing but trouble with grandmas Dell. Think I'm going to take more time and may add a bit more to the budget. But keep changing my criteria & budget lol makes it a moving beast. I'm glad you've given me that info about the Lenovo coupled with I don't think it's fast enough from reading the reviews. My approach needs to be - identify my needs. (First post) Find ranges that fit those needs and see what price they are rather than limit my budget.
I think I'd like pentium proceesor rather than celeron.0
