Aren't Bicycles Great.

I liked the look of the Canyon but I hadn't seriously considered it because I didn't expect to be able to get it any time soon, it sounds like they have made genuine improvements to their process after apologising for their previous poor performance.
Does the Infinite have mudguard mounts? It's hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like there are hidden ones on the inside of the fork, I can't tell at the back. I've been debating whether it's worth having them or not but they were good on a wet ride on Sunday evening.
The Sram eTap system looks really impressive and I'm not generally a fan of Sram, it seems a really neat solution for people to use existing bikes and the price isn't completely silly either.

The Inflite does have concealed mudguard mounts. I've not explored what mudguards would fit, but there must be a range that would suit.
ETA; SKS Bluemels guards will fit. I think you can buy them from Canyon.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
That's a good pace you're going at in that video brat.
Especially that first turn to the left in the wet. I'd have been worried about the front wheel slipping. All your base are belong to us.0 -
I use that junction every day in rain hail and snow. The video often makes things look faster than they are.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0

I began my cycling career yesterday because as I age I am turning into a disgusting fat b######. I am also vastly cutting back on the booze too, which I find a horrific prospect....
I am, however, blessed with living amongst some stunning countryside so am actually quite looking forward to not whizzing past in it my car.
I did a 13 mile loop yesterday... Which am planning to repeat today.
My question - When will my botty stop hurting?!
Although I was out of breath yesterday, and I struggled with the hills, it was the botty that made me stop...
I have some gel shorts and a gel saddle cover so thought I'd be alright!:cool: lurker:cool::cool:0 -
I'd ditch the gel saddle cover and get a narrower saddle...the less fleshy contact the better; ie you just want to sit on your sit bones! Give it 3-4 weeks and your posterior will adjust.
Charge Spoon saddles are very comfy for a lot of people.0 -
Narrower?!?!
No mate. I've just shaved with it!
I'll just grin and bear it for the next 4-5 weeks!
Really that long?!:cool::cool: lurker:cool::cool:0 -
Was out on my mountain bike again for the first time in months.
Wasn't as fun as i'd hoped as too much mud around but best get training for the good / dry weatherAll your base are belong to us.0 -

When I got my new mountain bike, I managed a mile before I lost all feeling in my legs/bum and had to stop. It was agony, even on smooth tarmac with padded shorts. I don't know how anyone copes with those hard saddles all bikes seem to come with these days. It genuinely baffles me. But I have got a bony bum!
The only saddle I've ever found comfortable is the one from my old bike, which cost £125 brand new (for the whole bike, not just the saddle). With that one, I can rest up over winter, and even the first 20 mile ride of the year doesn't cause me to get saddle-sore.
So I use the old saddle instead. It's wearing out now. I don't know what I'm going to do if it completely disintegrates. Maybe I can get it reupholstered somehow...
I also had to get some decent handlebar grips. The juddering from the cheapo ones that came with the bike caused my RSI to badly flare up. Got some "triple-density" rubber ones, which are great.0 -
Gel saddles and covers are just about the worse thing to sit on for anything longer than a ride into town. Personally I like to ride a good old fashioned Brooks B17. I have ridden 300km in a single day on one of those without getting a sore bottom.
Unfortunately not recommended for wet riding without mudguards as that tends to ruin the leather, so I have a C17 on my carbon road bike instead.0
