See quote above. I have a brand new contactless card issued in the past couple of days and it is still the old design. I am therefore curious to know why Stclair seems to think that you only get the old design if you don't have a contactless card. I am just curious as to where they got this information from as from my experience it is incorrect.

My understanding is only offline debits are the new design at present certinatly for NatWest anyway.

Theyve followed visa rules by putting the Visa logo on the right hand side of the card. It looked stupid on the left hand side

Visa's card design guidelines allow the logo to be placed on the upper left if the card has a chip:

I quite like the new card design, much more modern than the previous design.

One thing I'm not digging about the new branding is the redesigned online banking. Overall it's ok, but what's with the brown background?
