Well at 23 I was a lost cause. My parents kicked me out because of the grief I was causing them (best thing they ever did as it made me realize how difficult life is).

I was out every single night with friends, smoking weed , and messing around until 2-3 in the morning after work with friends. One thing which I'm glad I stuck with was completing my studies at Uni in 'construction management'. I was also working in Asda 3 days a week.

After I turned 26 , I made up with my parents and I also
met a nice girl , got married to her and we now have two wonderful kids.

I'm 33 now with a well paid job and own our own home.

So at 23 your not doing to bad for yourself, at least you have set yourself goals, I had no goals back then and not even £100 in the bank. Once you turn 30 then you will feel old. I hate Birthdays now. Use to love it as i had a excuse to go out.

    Happy belated Birthday btw

At 23 i was married and about to buy a house. I had a job plus 2 part time jobs and had just started a part time MA.

I've not been that busy since!

23 seems young to be married now. I had children at 25 and 28 then got divorced at 29.
  • At 23 I was divorced with a 2 year old little girl, I jumped from fire to frying pan, and ended up in a volatile relationship with another guy. Ex husband was a pain so say the least and caused me as much upset as physically and emotionally possible, mainly using my daughter, I was in and out of court for what seemed like forever.

Like was one big headache (apart from DD)

Then 3 months before my 25th I met my hubby, we fell in love, got married, had DS1, got pregnant with DS2 and on DS1's first birthday, my gorgeous hubby adopted my DD, and I've never been happier.

Basically whatever happens, good or bad, happens for a reason, I would go through it all again to be where I am now :)
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)

  • When I was 23, I had the best 6 months of my entire life.

A few months after my 24th, things turned sour and my life fell apart and hit rock bottom and I suffered for years.

Life is what you make of it, and I still think it's pretty rubbish.

At 23 back in 1994, life was a real mixture. I had my own house, when a young person could still buy a house.

I went to college in the evenings, which I liked a lot but during the day I had a job at an insurance company, which I hated but I was so naive that I knew nothing else. Fortunately, I changed career to something better.

Even though I was young I was lonely and felt out of step with everyone else. I had counselling and I can remember her shock when I told her how old I felt.
I was miserable from drinking too much.

I'd change a few things but the main thing would be not to care what people think and have more self confidence.

    I'm more cheerful now!

I was 20 weeks pregnant when I turned 23 and was living in a strange city that wasn't my home. I was happy though. Still happy now at 26.

I'd just come out of a long term relationship so I was single, had a full time job, lived in shared houses, was a political activist and very happy :)

At 23, I was still living at home (happily). I was just about to leave my first job and go to my second job which was good at first, but too much has changed for the worse and I hate it now.
I had a great social time with a common music-related interest, with friends from all over the place who'd all show up at the events we all went to.
  • I'm 23 now and I really feel like the dullest person ever after reading some of these replies!

I've got a qualification in hairdressing and beauty therapy but after trying to work mobile (without actually being mobile, as I cannot drive) didn't work and looking for a job in a salon began to be unsuccessful, I worked in retail.. until a few months ago.

I have a rare and incurable neurological condition, diagnosed approx 18 months ago. I was pushed out of my job in retail and my health has deteriorated. So I'm currently in the first phase of claiming ESA.

I still live with my parents in our family home (a little bit envious of all my friends that have gone onto moving out and purchasing their first homes). I have a wonderful partner of 3 years, who used to live in my family home but doesn't any more, unfortunately.

I have a fair few issues and a lot more debt then I'd like.

I have to admit, I do get bitter seeing the people a round me setting up their homes, getting married and starting their families. But I hope that one day it'll be my turn! :)
