I 've managed to graduate from a good univeristy with a great degree with no student loans (working and saving like crazy since about 15), have a mortgage on our little 2 up 2 down house with my gorgeous man and getting married in April (low budget wedding but just as we both want it).
Currently doing my PhD and OH is an apprentise but we are definatly getting there. Things are getting easier than when I was doing my undergraduate and hopefully will continue to get easier as OH comes off apprentise wage (hopefully) next year and after I graduate with my PhD in 2018, my wages should go up as well!
I can't wait to go travelling (during and post PhD). No children planned anytime soon, just wanted to enjoy life a bit!
We have some savings and are even managing to overpay on our mortgage!!!!
How did you get a mortgage as a phd student and an apprentice?0 -
At 23 I was single with my own small house, a job as an engineer living the bad life, of drink, video games and doing just about whatever I wanted.
5 years on, engaged (soon to be married) an amazing DD, and about to move again to larger house in a nice quite area.0 -

We got the house 4 years ago when we just managed to get a guarantored mortgage. OH wasn't an apprentice either at the time and I was an undergraduate student so they counted my loans as income (even though I didn't take them). Only one bank would allow us guarnatorst and they stopped the day we put our application in (as the offer on the house was accepted) so we were very very lucky!!!0 -

I am 23 now and have accomplished the following:
- Degree & Graduated
- Worked all the way through these and have a full time job now
- In a matter of weeks I am about to start my dream job on the railway - Trainee Train Driver
- Me & The boyf have been together for 4 years
- I have seen a lot of the world that maybe some havent including Europe, America, South Africa, Australia & Indonesia
Writing that down has actually made me feel a lot better and made me see that I have achieved more than I probably thought
I still have goals
- Saving for my house deposit - aiming for 50 k between us and currently have 20k - will get a grant from the Army and once my job pays better I will save more
- I have a bucket list to see many more parts of the world
- I also want to look at going outside my comfort zone - for exmaple this week I have attended a class I never thought I would have
All in all life looks good and the future is bright looking out at 23 - I wonder how I will be looking back....:T0 -
