ah - 'it's worth a lot' 'you can't throw/get rid of THAT because it cost £xxx, because yyy bought it' the anti-mantras IMO

anyway been told to leave work early 'and take something with you to do tomorrow, just in case...'

Colleague asked for lift. Valli took a deep breath and suggested 'a couple of quid towards petrol would be nice' - and I got 'I'm so sorry, I never thought...and a tenner!' WOOTY WOOTY WOOT WOOT and the promise of more to come *faints from vigorous wooting fit*

Some of you might have noticed that some of us have the same avatar - it's in memory of Money Saving Diva who went to fly on a higher plane 4 years ago tomorrow. (well i think 4...)

Oh, they're not staying, believe me! I will put them in a carrier bag and give the bag to her next time she's here. I always do! I just say "there's a bag of bits you left here last time in the hall way, don't forget it when you go!". Hopefully, one day she'll get the message!
Anyway, I still haven't got any further with the rehoming of items!

Valli, thank you for the reminder, the anniversary of money saving divas passing seems to come round so quickly. I think she was posting before I became a regular on here, but she was an inspiration to flyers and I will be lighting a lovely purple candle in her memory tomorrow evening.

DDs seem to be like buses here, I just thought about ringing DD2 to see how her scan went yesterday, and DD3 pops in with her fella to pick up post, just sit down for a cuppa with them and DD1 rings for a natter cos she's not spoken to me since the weekend. LOL better get on the phone to DD2 quick before someone else turns up. ( won't be the boys as they are already here)

Have just read through today's posts but (unusually - don't know why) wasn't logged in so couldn't thank anyone. Please consider yourselves thanked!

mamaninie, thank you for your message.

Today has been non-stop visiting and phonecalls, but I have succeeded in finding a suitable care home for my friend "A", with pleasant staff, a good-sized, recently refurbished room with a decent view, on a good bus route to make it easy for her son to visit her, with open visiting hours and children welcome so that her granddaughter can go and see her - I took another friend and the son's partner with me, and we are all in agreement. The care home manager is going to assess A at the hospital tomorrow morning, and the Health Authority social worker has said that she will give the go-ahead for A to be moved tomorrow afternoon. A is a bit shaken by how quickly it has all been arranged, but she is looking forward to seeing her granddaughter again, so that is good. I've also told A that we will hold a meeting of the Old Wives in her room one Monday night ;)

I have cooked and we've eaten a very nice meal and now I am just going to relax, watch TV and play Scrabble with DH. Back to flying tomorrow!

Dusty, so pleased that your mum is making good progress.
LW, hope you get some sleep tonight.
    Pigpen, hope your day improved.
Bossy, I can't hear you mooing!
    Rest in peace, MSDiva.

As predicted no flying done today

A long and boring day at the hospital, a lot of hanging around. Ds2 (14) was very good and didn't complain especially as he didn't think to take anything to do.

Hope to have a more productive day tomorrow...

I have mooed, ionafan and my floors are clean ;)

Well done valli at the petrol money :T

We had a blizzard here at 3pm. I swear one minute the sun was shining and the next it was pelting down hail, throwing it sideways and then within 5 minutes snow had covered the ground. FIL said he would go get the kids - but DD was in wraparound and they always leave something in nursery plus she is a handful when the weather isn't nice, lol. So then MIL said she was going too, and I should finish up my work. Oh dear. They set off out (FIL had to borrow gloves, and MIL my hat) and took the pushchair with the cover on.

10 mins later FIL returns with DS with no hat or gloves  but they are still in his bag <huh?> and they have lost MIL and DD??? So FIL heads back out. It's so bad I can barely see him at the end of the drive. Thankfully they were just on their way down the street because she's had to find DDs hat which was left..... Yep, in nursery. Lol.

So they all needed warming up with hot drinks and dry clothes but everyone is ok.

I've made DDs bed, they took her swimming (snow had stopped), made SW sweet and sour chicken and veg rice, cleaned up kitchen after (and mooed, lol) and got kiddies to bed. Oh and finished building DS lego train station and dunked him in the bath. Then detangled DD hair - which was a job in itself!

Oh and I finished work, and I've even switched my phone off! Messaged boss man saying "speak to you next Monday, and not a moment before" lol :T DD is over the moon that I'm not working and we don't even have to go shopping. She wants to paint, bake biccies and play mousetrap, lol. Bless her.

Ooh I keep hearing banging, I'm off to check the gate as the window cleaner came today and he's a b@gger for not bolting the gate after himself...

And then I'll finish up the minutes from last Thursdays school club meeting!

DW x 2 .. so my worksurfaces are clear.
Under table swept and filled 3 carriers of recycling and a small box... OH had left it on the kitchen floor because.. the cat liked sleeping on it!!! That's a good reason *BIN*

Squeak got the head teachers award at school for doing well in her dance, she also got star of the week for her class for doing so well with her communication skills.. she is painfully shy and just coming out of herself with the teachers and they are becoming aware that she doesn't EVER shut up! One of the teachers is very like my sister (Tabitha's mum) and Squeak just loves her! She is nice though and her little girl is going to be in Dots class.. that should be interesting!!

Squeaks glasses have been found. Hopefully, DS3's new PINK ones will be ready tomorrow.. and Mimi's too but hers aren't pink!

DS2 is at dentist on Friday again.

Laundry baskets filled again.. OH brought the bathroom one down and Mimi filled 1 and my kitchen is filling up again, I have 2 baskets of socks and pants and 2 baskets of unpaired socks to sort through.

OH actually seems a bit pleased about a college interview.. :) .. it is a guarantee'd place so it is just if the content is what he expects when he gets there. 14 hours a week with him out of my hair means I can do the list without interruption and Dot away to nursery.. I have never wished a year away quite so much as I am doing now.. bring on September!!!!

Ooh! Thanks! I have all these ingredients except eggs which will be in the shopping list this week. do you think I could substitute the pecans for walnuts? As I have lots of them in the cupboard rather than buying something special! I still have muffins and flapjack left, but might try this at the weekend!
