OH took me down Dr this morning. He diagnosed very bad chest infection, boarder line pneumonia. Got 5 days antibiotics and he says to go back if I am worse. Had to laugh as he said I would feel washed out after the antibiotics..... Don't think I could feel much worse than I do now TBH. :rotfl: Even walking around is an effort, fuzzy head, weak muscles and last night I coughed nearly all night and had massive hot sweats and shivers. Just want to get better now. On the plus side....I am not eating much so that is always a bonus....lol.
So today is a day of resting and sleeping. Think there is only so long I can look at my computer screen. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hope you feel better soon, that sounds nasty.

Well not feeling much better this morning, so will be resting again and breathing on lots of steam. If no improvement by tomorrow, I think I will ring Dr and see if they can prescribe a better antibiotic.
OH has posted the letter to W*sc*t with a F&F offer on 2 of our debts. They have both recently been bought from H*l/fx by C*b*ot, so hoping we might have more luck now as H*/fx were obviously getting fed up with our £1 a month payments and could see they would never get their money back so decided to sell the debts on.
Off to list some stuff on some selling sites now as that doesn't take any energy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Welcome Choccygirl thanks for joining. Sometimes I do think we are doing well and then I look at what we still owe and think its never going to happen. When we first started, with SC, it worked out that we would be DF within about 13 years I think. Of course then when I lost my job and now only work very part time, it all seemed to go down hill, bills going up and wages going down....lol. Hey Ho, they can't have what we haven't got and I am sure it will all sort itself out in the end. Going SM was definitely good for us, and the info I have found out from this site is amazing. I would never have dreamed you could tell creditors you only wanted to pay token payments of a month....of offer them F&F's.... or request CCA's. SC don't tell you any of that, they just want you to pay back every penny.
Still feeling rubbish today, thinking of ringing the GP and see if they can prescribe different antibiotics and don't feel these are doing the trick.
Hubby's shoulder is now about 100%. He has started driving again...thank goodness, seeing as I feel so bad at the moment. Can't ride his bike yet for about another month though.
Been reflecting on things the last couple of days and think everything happens for a reason. Looking back on things since OH had his accident in October, I can see that I was just starting to get more and more run down. At that point I was trying to organise that holiday, as he never does any packing etc, I had also started having the 2 eldest GS's 3 nights a week after school...which then extended to 4 nights. I was already worrying about DD starting to work FT and youngest GS going to a childminder, which I just thought was a bad idea (suppose in my day we all stayed home to look after our kids...lol).
So then we had the trauma of OH's op and me having to drive him everywhere etc and worrying if would get on holiday. During that 10 days or so, DD never offered not to send the GS's, so I had to say I couldn't have them on the day OH had the op, but she then assumed they would come back the following week before we went away. I was also working 3 days a week as well. Yes we went away, but much as I enjoyed it, it was hard as he had his arm in a sling, so I had to do everything. I had already had a bit of a cough and snuffly nose at this point, but it didn't transpire into anything.
So then we got home and back to work....OH still in sling at this point and I had to drive him to work everyday...(15 mile round trip), there are no buses he could have used. We are now 4 weeks until Christmas as well. I was also stressing about the wages OH had lost at the beginning and trying to re budget everything. Still had GS's after school as well. So about a week before Christmas one of the GS's started a cough. I know that is the germ I picked up and due to having had pneumonia previously, I have to be careful. DD knows this, but has the attitude that "its only a cough/cold". She also told me she didn't think he was at our house long enough to infect me.....lol she obviously doesn't realise that he only needs to cough once and the germ is spread and I have a low immune system (also have a heart condition as well), So I obviously inhaled it and it went to my lung. Started off as just a cough and now turned into pneumonia.
So what I have decided is that I do too much for other people and don't spend enough time on myself. I have said this in the past, and started out with good intentions, but then it has all gone pear shaped. My resolutions for this year are.....
1/ Not having GS's if they are ill in any way and certainly not starting to have them until I am 100% better.
2/ Spending much more time on "me" and doing things that I WANT to do rather than things I HAVE to do. I have Osteporosis and really should do much more exercise than I do. When I first got diagnosed with it nearly 3 years ago, I started with all good intentions, but then real life got in the way again and I stopped.
3/ Realising that life is short and we must make the most of each day.
4/ Decluttering the house again to make it easier to keep clean and then setting about over paying the mortgage it little bits as the sooner its paid, the sooner we can downsize.
So enough of my waffle for now. Thanks as always for reading. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Just an addition to today....rang Dr again as not feeling any better and he said he would see me if I could get straight down. Rang my DD, who only lives round the corner and she took me down. Gave me some different antibiotics and have to go for a chest Xray on Monday. Hoping for some improvement now I have different tablets. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Well after being inspired by jwil,
I decided to have a go at making small overpayments on the mortgage. So every day I am going round down the joint account and over pay little bits at a time...in the words of Mr T....every little helps. I have just done the deed for today and sent them £5 :T...it feels so good :rotfl:, like I have actually achieved something. I'm sure it won't be that much every day, but who cares. We currently owe just short of £60k but several years ago we added to the term of it, meaning that instead of finishing when I am 65, I will now be 69 (another 7.5 years from now). Luckily OH is younger and will be working for longer. Although TBH, at the moment, my SP will actually be more than my small PT wages, so should actually be better off...LOL:rotfl: What I did was to go online and examine the sub accounts we have. One of them only has just over £2000 left to pay, but of course they allocate our monthly payments between all sub accounts.....6 in total. So the lesser ones don't get much. Bit like SC and the DMP's really. I read up about how to make over payments and it says to change the 00 at the end of our acc number to whatever account we want to pay it off. So in this case £5 off account 05 and hoping that maybe we can actually clear that one sooner rather than later.
Its actually cheered me up no end, considering how poorly I feel....Happy days. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
That's brilliant news about the overpayments, especially if you can allocate it to a specific account :T I agree, even sending pennies makes me feel like I'm achieving something.
I think you are right to take a step back. You need to look after your health. We pay for all childcare for our children, we don't have any one to help. If my parents were closer, they'd love to have them, but I would be very aware that it would be purely on their terms, I would never assume they would have them and especially not when they are ill. Unfortunately staying at home with the kids isn't an option for us. Mine both adore(d) nursery and came on so well from going, so although sometimes I feel guilty, I know they are doing well and enjoying themselves.
I hope you are feeling better today and that the new meds are starting to kick in."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -
Thanks jwil
Think feel about 10% better, so a start. Its the coughing and breathlessness when I try and move around that makes me feel worse.
I have always done lots of babysitting for them. Luckily they only live about 5 minutes walk away. DD only went back to work in October and hasn't worked FT for many years. Luckily job is in a school so she does get holidays off. Youngest GS is going to a lovely child minder but the other 2 are at school (year 5) and finish before DD gets home and SIL isn't always at home at that time. Its my own silly fault as I offered to let them come to ours after school as she was going to ask the child minder to have them. But as the child minder is about 30 minute walk from the school, I didn't like the thought of the little one having to walk down with child minder to the school to meet them and then they all walk back to her house, in the cold and wet weather. Our house is less than 10 minutes from the school.
I am definitely going to insist that they don't come if they have coughs and colds again. I would never go and visit people if I thought I had germs, and especially not if I knew that person was more at risk.
Off to see how much I can over pay on the mortgage today....lolThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
