Your update moved your diary to the top so I've just read through it. Luckily there is massive time gaps so it was a very manageable 8 pages. My DMP will be starting shortly so I like to read some diaries for encouragement/tips. You are making great progress - well done.
I did laugh as I was reading your early posts and your frustration with OH, I know it wasn't funny to you at the time but it did amuse me. Hopefully he's being a bit more helpful now, although probably not.....August 2018: Secured Debt £70,003 Unsecured Debt (DMP) £34,657 Total £104,660 DFD: March 2031

hi and welcome to my diary. I am going to try and update more often if real life doesn't get in the way. Although I sometimes don't know what to write about...is anyone really interested in where I go and what I do?? Probably not, so I should maybe just post when I have DMP news...which isn't so often these days.
You are correct, Oh still leaves everything to me....if we have to write a letter to a creditor or anything, I just stick the letter in front of him to sign and honestly he has no idea what he is signing....LOL
Anyway, good luck with your DMP, they really aren't as scary as you would first imagine. We are all here to help. xThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Post whatever you want on your diary! The nosy in me loves reading about what people are up to, it gives me ideas of things to do, or how to handle things, or inspires me to get off my a*se and do something!
I always like to read back on mine and see what I was up to."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -
Not posted anything for ages, but here goes.....Back in March, OH got a small pension pot through and decided we deserved a holiday as we hadn't had a proper one for over 5 years. So we booked...Been looking forward to it for months...supposed to go in a week, and then last Wednesday, OH was on his way to work on his motorbike when a car pulled out to go round a stationary bus, without looking in his mirror. Didn't see OH's bike coming up in RH lane and OH had to brake to avoid hitting the car. Came off his bike and has a broken collar bone. This week he had to attend the fracture clinic and the said it is such a bad break he needs an op to insert a metal plate and screws. They said they would do the op on Thursday as they know we have holiday booked....consultant was so lovely trying to fit him in etc and said we would still be able to go as long as I could cope with him being in a sling.
So Thursday we went to the hospital and at 3pm they sent him home as too many emergencies to do it!!They are desperately trying to fit him in now in time for us to go on holiday....next Sunday!!! But no guarantee it will happen in time. To say I am gutted is an understatement. I know the whole thing could have been so much worse and obviously his health is the most important thing, but we have been waiting for sooooo long for this. so all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and wait and see when the hospital ring with a date...they say it really needs to be by Weds or Thurs for him to be ok to go on hols afterwards.
I'm thinking this is the universe's way of getting back at us and telling us we should have spent it all on our debts and not put some towards a holiday.....lol

Oh no! Could have been SO much worse though. I have my fingers crossed for you for a date very very soon.0

How awful. I'm glad it wasn't worse.
I hope you manage to get the op done and get away. You've worked hard to clear your debts."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -

Oh no that’s awful! Hope he gets the op in time and you can still go away0 -
Finally back to update my diary. Well, OH did finally get his op and yes we did manage to get away. :T Was lovely, although a little stressful, trying to cope with him in a sling and me having to do all the driving and lifting etc. etc., but glad we went as it was well needed. Anyway, he is recovering nicely, although still not allowed to drive for another couple of weeks and then about another month before he can ride his motorbike again, so I am still having to drive him around to work, physio etc. Will definitely be glad when things are back to normal.
Christmas was lovely, spent with family and not having to cook, although I had a sore throat/cough which has now turned into a fully blown cold and making me feel lousy.
Not much to report on the DMP front. We did get an offer from one DCA, but it was very high so we counter offered, saying we had been given some money from a relative etc, but they wouldn't accept unless we sent in a detailed I&E and proof that our mortgage was up to date etc etc. I told them it was irrelevant as the money for the offer was not impacting on that, but they still wrote back the same bog standard letter. So ....their loss, we have now made an offer to another one and see if they accept. Only offered 10% as that's all we have, but fingers crossed.
Will try and write more often if I can...if anybody is actually interested...lol.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning everybody. This cold won't go away and I feel worse today, so having a PJ day and catching up with some online stuff and then going to watch a film or 2. Will sit and peel some veg as don't have the energy to stand up and put a nice stew on with the left over gammon.
Starting all my new challenges for new year...saving for Christmas, being more frugal, decluttering...when I have the energy...lol and selling more stuff to make money.
Also the main thing I need to do is exercise more and spend more time on "me" to improve my Osteoporosis and for OH and me to go more places together and do more. Life passes you by before you realise it.
Off to have some honey and lemon now to try and get rid of this stupid lurgy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
