Shattered today. Had to go and visit my dad so OH could fix his house alarm for him. He lives 150 miles away, so we left home at about 6.30 this morning & got back home about 7.30 tonight! Job's done for him...he's nearly 86 so obviously couldn't do it himself & OH had installed it in the first place....Cost £40 in fuel but didn't feel we could refuse and he did give me £20 towards it, bless him and bought us a nice lunch.
Came back & checked the post to find Link had replied to my letter asking for their bank details in order to set up SO. They sent their bank details but asked for ours......Don't think so!!!!! Why would they need our details? Posted on the DMP support thread asking if this is correct. Really not wanting to give them our details.
Hope everybody is having a good weekend. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hello Ploppy, I ignored any request for bank details when I went self managed and just set up standing orders, I didn't complete any of their I&E just sent my own also. It is probably just one of their generic letters and as long as they are getting a payment that's all that matters. Enjoy your Sunday, lovely Spring day here in Midlands !!!55357;!!!56842; DB x0

Well, still no response from any other creditors other than PRA & Link...( although only for one of the accounts out of 3). I have bank details for some of the others as they were on their original letters so can set up their SO's, but if the others don't reply by the 10th they will not get their first SM payment.
OH did our new car insurance renewal on Friday....never trust a man!!! Its the only job he does where our finances are concerned as I sort everything else, and he messed it up! Wanted to pay monthly but he ended up selecting wrong option and they have taken the full £190 out of the bank in one go! Now waiting for it to be refunded after he phoned up to sort it out. Fingers crossed its back in bank by tomorrow as its messed me right up.
Apart from that, everything's fine....although I've still not made my next dentist appointment..... Must try and do it tomorrow if I can pluck up the courage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi, thanks for reading my diary. Please don't be put off when things go wrong at the start of your DMP. At the beginning I think I was so stressed by all the debt problems that I felt constantly bad. I think the main thing we did wrong at the beginning was to try and pay too much each month. I was focusing too much on getting it paid quickly. Then work problems meant I wasn't earning as much and we had to reduce our payments and I kept reading about other people going self managed and felt I didn't have the courage to do it..... ( OH leaves it all up to me and is no help in sorting stuff out at all...he'd basically go along with anything I suggest. ) Now I feel that the SM route is going to work for us and I am confident that we will be debt free much sooner than originally thought. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Well, on the DMP front, P*A have responded to my CCA requests by putting the accounts on hold while they search for relevant documents. I'm pretty sure they will struggle as they are old accounts, 1999, 2000, 2002. So keeping fingers crossed on that one.
In other news....I rang up and made my dentist appointment!! 28th Feb! Will try not to think about it until then.
Hope everyone else is ticking along fine. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I am another one who hates the dentist,I havent been for such a long time because I was kicked off the list at my last dentist because I didnt go for my check ups, they used to contact you when one was due but changed the system and stopped doing that, only they didnt tell me so I forgot,I now dont have a dentist because finding an NHS one is impossible,we do have a really good dental school here though so if I have a problem I go there, the students always need someone to practice on and they are well supervised so its not as scary as you might thinkOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200

I'm absolutely terrified of dentists. Our old one was not nice, and eventually found the current one on recommendations from a few people and he is lovely. He totally understands my fear. I have a tooth that broke off and left a bit of the root in and has to come out. Then there is another one that really needs to come out. I am starting with the route bit and see how I feel about making another appointment for the other one.....one step at a time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good luck with your treatment,I know exactly how you feel,my original dentist was lovely and understood my fears but when he retired and a new lot took over it was definitely just business to them, they just saw the patients as money not people and were awful,I am fairly lucky that my teeth are actually really healthy and the only treatment I!!!8217;ve needed over the years has been wisdom teeth romving and a repair to a tooth I broke a few years ago, this repair didn!!!8217;t work so I had that tooth out so problem solvedOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200

Well I spent this afternoon doing a DMP spreadsheet for our new SM journey. I have zero knowledge of how to create a spreadsheet, so got OH to do it & I just input all the details and will update it each month.
We have currently paid about 22percent ( wont let me type the percent symbol...lol), of our original amount, which looks like nothing really but is a lot more than we would have paid off it in 3 years if we hadn't been on DMP. Although at the amount we are now paying, it looks like taking many years. But I am confident we will get some good F&F's and maybe even some UE's.
So tomorrow we are having a new bed delivered as ours has been awful for many years and can't stand it any more. FIL has loaned us the Money & we can pay back as & when.
Also tomorrow got the 2 eldest GS's coming to stay for couple of days as its half term and DD is having some building work done. So should be a busy couple of days.
Hope everyone is having a good weekendThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
