60 Cyclists To Sue Edinburgh Council

Almost wiped out on my bike tonight. Car pulled out a give way, with no lights on and someone didn't see me at all (hi viz vest, front flashing light & another front light constantly on)
If i was an inexperienced cyclist they'd have had a nice dent in the side of their car and their insurance company would have been unhappy but lucky for them i managed to avoid them by a few inches.
Was my favourite breed of motorist as well. A Taxi driver! All your base are belong to us.0 -
Nope, not a single one.
Ting, Ting, go their bells as they try (and fail) to bully their way through.
It is quite nice, thanks.
Bikes are much thinner and more manoeuvrable than cars, and can do stuff quite legally that cars can't. They mustn't ride through a pedestrian, they shouldn't inconvenience you, but they really don't have to. They could quite easily and legally enter a junction while a pedestrian is crossing without either indicating or inconveniencing the pedestrian.
If the pedestrian has a hissy and accosts the cyclist while doing so, that's assault.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
The death wish you refer to is often a misinterpretation of perceived risk by the driver who has no knowledge of what the cyclist is or isn't aware of.
You mean like the cyclist in this clip isn't aware that he is riding on the wrong side of the road across a busy junction into a no entry while colliding with a pedestrian on a crossing who has a green light? Is this not "assault"?

What about the motorist in this clip isn't aware he is driving on the wrong side of the road, towards busy high speed traffic ready to kill someone.
Is this not idiocy?

No he's not, and yes, his actions would be reckless enough to constitute assault...
But you'll get examples for whatever you want on youtube, it doesn't support an argument.
I was told of someone on youtube who intentionally tasered his gonads. I haven't looked. That action (like this cyclist) is weapons grade stupid...
...But it doesn't follow that the rest of us who carry taser routinely jar 50,000 volts into our privates.
It doesn't follow that we condone his actions.
Nor does it follow that we who carry taser should understand why he tasered his gonads.
Nor does it follow that those who carry taser should be vilified or discriminated against because of the actions of a fool.
I locked a lad up for drink driving last night. He was all over the road. Another kiddie put his Corsa on its roof and his girlfriend in hospital.
These are poor drivers.
But it doesn't lead me to castigate and vilify all other drivers...
...so I do wonder why you feel the need to think that the poor cyclists "give the responsible, law abiding cyclists a bad name."Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -

 Of course. And the idiots amongst us sometimes gives the responsible road users of certain groups (bus drivers, taxi drivers, van drivers, motorcyclists, pedal cyclists...) a bad name.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only.
