Trolling and time consuming replies, no surprise that this thread ended up 'running on tramlines'.
Its the same old same old.
The cycling section was lumped in with public transport because the car drivers were crying about it clogging(ironically) the motoring, public transport & cycling board as it was.
Now they same type trundle over to continue the same pap.0 -

I think it's their loneliness that 'drives' them to this proto-stalking behaviour.0 -
Once again. Do you indicate right to go straight on? Its a pretty simple point.
Merging lanes, yes.Its the same old same old.

Oy, I am here for the Public Transport, trams in this case, so can't you cyclists keep it down.0 -
Not sure if I have ever seen a cyclist in London give hand signals, other than the one or two finger variety. Perhaps one of our knowledgeable cyclists could say why they have given up following the Highway Code.
I've no idea, why would I know any different to you? Why not ask the cyclists you're complaining about? I realise this is very difficult for some people to understand but cyclists are not a singular gestalt entity comprised of a single shared mind, it's a very large group far more varied than many others.
I'm very careful to use hand signals as I am with life saver checks over my shoulder as ultimately the more drivers know what I'm going to do, the less chance there is of an accident which is most certainly of benefit to me.

But when one group of road users fails to 'play by the rules' but still complains when they put themselves in danger, what other alternative is there.
Well, that's exactly what car drivers do! They break the speed limit because they think they're above the law, and then complain that speed cameras are "unfair".

So... ban private car ownership, and let bikes take over the roads, you say? Interesting idea -- I'd quite like it. But you really must keep your absent daydreams rooted in the real world.0 -

It is not drivers that I care about cyclists not signalling for (it doesn't bother me if they get squashed under cars as a result).
It is failing to give indications for pedestrians, such as turning left into a junction where pedestrians are crossing, and giving no indication that they are going to do so.
I have yet to encounter a cyclist who knows and applies Highway Code rule 170.0 -

I guess the ones who fail to indicate do so knowing full well that people won't look before they cross the road anyway. I have yet to see a single pedestrian who follows the Green Cross Code.
Maybe we should require a walking licence to be held before people are allowed in public. An supplementary test (aka the Jogging Test) could be implemented for those looking to develop skills in advanced walking.0 -

With your love of cyclists and quoting regulations... shouldn't you be off breaking Space Core Directive 196156?0 -

John
This is what Altarf, Tilt Johno and the rest of the bridge dwellers cannot grasp. We are not our brother's keepers.
I wouldn't consider accusing Altarf, Tilt or Johno of being drink driving, excessive speeding, aggressive lunatics in their cars, because there's no evidence that they are.
Nor do I tar all drivers with the same brush.
So I wouldn't insist on draconian banning of all motor vehicles because of the dangerous actions of a small proportion of car drivers. But this is what we're asked to accept, not only as a considered argument , but the only solution.
Is this as good as it gets? Really??Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -

Well, today is your lucky day. I still use my hand signals when appropriate.
I even bought some reflective high vis bands for my wrists so when i use my hand signals at night, motorists can still see them.
Still doesn't stop pedestrians walking in front of me though. For my hand signals to be useful, it requires that pedestrians look at them as well which rarely happens.
I don't know if you're ever had to do an emergency stop on a bicycle with one hand because a pedestrian can't be bothered to look, but i can assure you it's not much fun.All your base are belong to us.0
