In Trinidad & Tobago, a place I have connections with, two consenting males is punishable for 25 years in prison. There is no protection for discrimination, employment or housing for LGBT people in T&T, and "active gay men are banned from giving blood"

    It's the same in Kenya.

Actually homosexuals aren't necessarily born gay. In psychology there is the differing viewpoints and never-ending question of is it nature or nurture. If you read the book by John Cleese and his psychiatrist friend Dr Robin Skynner, Families and how to survive them, the eminent doctor explains in a metaphor how the young man who has mostly been influenced by the mother has to make an early decision to cross over the bridge to join his father and take on his preferences towards females or to remain on the side of his mother who prefers men. In my earlier post my parallels were explained in a different vein. There is also the factor of abuse. If a young male has been sexually abused by a same gender there is a strong possibility that person will develop a liking for homosexuality.

A few years ago as a psychoanalyst I dealt with several abused clients whose sexual preference was developed in this way. It is usually below the age of about 7 or 8 when this has occurred and depending on the level of trauma could be forced into repression in the young mind so the actual abuse had consciously been 'forgotten'.

Are you seriously suggesting that's why most people are gay? If you are then that's the biggest load of rubbish I've read in my life!

I don't know why I've relied to this and suggest other don't. Basically anyone with a sensible opinion seems to be on Laz123's ignore list.
  • I cant believe this.

it seems stopping guys from kissing is a regular thing in this country.

A taxi firm is now reported of kicking two guys out of the taxi for kissing. The cabbie is reported to of told a group of men to

"get the f*** out of my cab"

one of the men kissed another on the cheek and neck (no lips this time).

The group of men were off out to a night club in Northern Ireland and were dumped at the side of the road at 11:30pm.

whats even more intriguing, is the same taxi firm was the official cab company for Belfast pride festival last year.

I think you have to take the user with a pinch of salt (ie they do not concede that most people are gay due to this), particularly because they have worked alongside abused clients in a psychology capacity which will obviously skew their opinion.

As a note though, why don't you respect his opinion/input? As a person who is gay your role is simply like that of everyone else: to like the people you like, to have relationships with them if you want and then to make sense of it all in a limited day-to-day capactiy. The role of a psychologist is to "figure out" humans. In this situation the user also suggested that his role saw him helping clients who had been abused which alone deserves some kudos. Why would you not want to draw upon the experiences of someone like that? Coupled with the fact that you've ignored at least 1 of my posts then it is probably you who is making use of the ignore list.

I think you were quite rude to Laz123 there, irrespective of whether he is right or wrong. I also think that the more I hear from you, the more you want to remain part of a community (LGBT) which exists on the peripheral of society (sod the Psychoanalyst! Sod daytona0! Sod Darwin!). I'm not sure, but if you aren't listening to people like Laz123 then nothing is changing in the world...

    Really?

How do you think every Gay, bi or lesbian etc person is going to think when someone claims that they probably were straight but then something went wrong.

Seriously it's one of the most ignorant things I've read on here. It's old theory which has since been proven wrong by much stronger evidence as to why homosexuality exists. I'm amazed also that someone has come on to try and defend it. To me it's just old fashioned ignorant backward thinking from people who like to delude themselves that being gay come from things like that. Seriously, it's twisted to say the least!

LGBT people are born that way, in the say way as your gender and your race. you can not learn to be that way.

I was trying to give Caucasian examples bc someone earlier seemed to be implying that it was only NON-majority-population Caucasian people who have a prob with LGBT.
Yeah that started with some thick bigot who was trying to imply Caucasians are more likely to be homophobic :rotfl:

Like someone said before it's telling how these threads bring out the bigots. And the hypocrites who lecture others about one form of bigotry and then openly display their own bigotry!
