  • I like the debate on food banks, I can understand why they are asking for certain things (when people have to choose between using an oven/hours heating) then soup/tinned spaghetti or meals) for a hob are a great thing. I personally buy fillers I would use value sweetcorn tins of tomatoes, nearer Halloween 10p sweets, but if the opportunity arose such as when the Parolli tinned toms were free at Tesco then I would donate some. Nothing wrong with biscuits going in, everyone could do with a treat and if it makes someone smile then great x

Maybe not popular :o but I just say what others are thinking? it's fine to be giving stuff to the food banks and I'm sure they welcome it......but has anyone ever stopped to think how utterly condescending they sound?? I have free biscuits.....I won't eat them so I'll give them to the food bank. Seriously folks, if you have been involved with the people who really need food banks ( not the ones that take the !!!!) you wouldn't dare be so condescending :-( why should someone be grateful for 'fillers' that you wouldn't dare eat yourself?
this has bugged me lately. in my experience food bank users are no better or worse than us. they are people who have fallen on hard times. Could be you or I? so why do they deserve the stuff that isn't good enough for you?
Reading different opinions. Here is another one. I was told that some people receiving food parcels are very picky on what they are receive, do not want supermarket own brands goods but want branded goods. I, thankfully do not need food parcels thanks to this site and the info on it but still buy supermarket own brands, branded if they are on offer.

My food parcels go to my brother, who has worked over 45 years in a bakery even tho he had asthma, he now has COPD and is unable to work which in turn depresses him but because he is not on a list (which we are unable to find out about) is not able to receive a food parcel but he will not go without while we are able to help.

    Morning everyone.

I've caught up overnight. As someone who sometimes posts abouts this stuff, I can't help but feel a lot of it was aimed in my direction :o

I know you're all nice people. You don't need to post about things you do for me to know that you do them. I sometimes do because charity stuff has become a bigger part of my life than it used to be and I've always felt able to share my life on here. It does make me happy. And sometimes, when glitchy items are involved, I thought you'd all like to know where's it's gone. It's a fascination of mine, in the same way I like to see a tower of loo roll :o

I'm really sorry if my posts have irritated you guys. It has NEVER been my intention to show-off or guilt trip anyone into anything :( As I've said on FB, I post pictures of whatever makes me happy, gives me purpose etc etc. Sometimes it's a picture of my lunch, a beautiful sunset, or a link to a page where you can vote to get a charity some money. I don't discriminate.

I think, like FC, I might take a little break. Reading back has made me feel a bit sick.

Hope you all have wonderful Mondays xx

Dont go anywhere EMMAP, if everyone was the same life would be so boring, I enjoy reading your stories and your posts have not upset me at all.

Bought a banana for littleman and the till gave me my vouchers:)
Then I went to Claire's and got a few bits for DD friends birthday. Not alot left but I'm happy with the items I got today saving £35  according to my receipt.
