  • I'm gonna try and make a point of doing the basics once a month to make sure I can get my head round it.mmath so isn't my strong point but right now, the idea of paying an accountant is  and  at the same time

Maybe we should see if aau does special Elite rates :p:D:rotfl:

Qoc have you looked at local accountants, business advisors? We had a free 1 hr consultation with ours before we decided to go ahead. There was no pressure to sign with him at all. Just the hr alone we learnt lots about tax, payroll etc might be worth looking into.

Me too Queen of Cheap. I'm off to see my accountant today.

I know many advise against doing your own books, but I think I am going to see how it's done at least for the first year or so before I decide if I can tackle it myself.

Someone said to me a good accountant pays for themselves in the money they save you so lets see if that's true.

Also... Persil... Could someone explain? :)

Doing the books is easy, and it helps me to focus and think where the hell is that receipt, how many miles did I drive that day etc.

When I say doing the books... I just keep a spread sheet, with a column with all the days/dates of the year, and other columns of incomings and all the different outgoings....... I claim mileage, but I also keep a column of diesel/car costs just for my own personal reference... it is my biggest cost and I want to make sure it balances out as when you do over 10,000 miles (which I do in 10 weeks) drops considerable!!

I do love the freedom of working for myself.

    :D:D:D:D:D

No pics tweets, sad story though.

It's a petitition asking for highways agencies to scan animals that are no longer with us that are found near roads etc and for a proper procedure to be followed in helping contact owners.

I've tried to type that without much detail hope it's ok....if not I will delete.

I did a loan to the company of £500 to set up, and when I could I repaid this to myself. I used my old computers/printers etc until I could afford to purchase these for the company.

Make sure you get a good accountant... whilst I do my books he knows the taxation system inside and out and keeps me on the straight and narrow! Although at times he struggles with my views that I do not want to avoid paying tax!

That's a good idea- I need to buy a printer and a few other bits but pretty much have everything I need so a small loan from me to me would cover what I need covering :)

It's funny, i have known for ages what I want to do and had an idea of the basics, but I know next to nothing about the nitty gritty of some things :o
