If you've got Spanish, a lot of places in South America are fantastic.
There are different types of places to aim for everywhere, not just in South America - big sites like Macchu Picchu or the Taj Mahal, tourist spots that everyone knows about, like Florence, beach resorts with nothing but partying/surfing etc, and alternative/hippy trail type places - the trail east starts at the pudding shop in Istanbul and heads off from there, via ashrams in India. Maybe you want a mix, but if you go to the sort of place you *don't* like, it won't work. Except if you go to gawp at the crazy people!:rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Karmacat - that sounds amazing, India is certainly somewhere i'd like to explore.....do you know of any good links/resources I could use for route planning? Still a long way off but all very motivational for me! :-)0

What about the pyramids of Giza? They are the only lasting Ancient Wonder of the World. An amazing site.
I'll try and dig out ms_london's thread. Your story is very similar to hers.0 -
I quite enjoyed Great Yarmouth but if you have enough time I would also recommend Cromer and Skegness.

Best,
Brilliant Best - but what about Weston-super-Mare or even Cleethorpes? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Seriously though, I don't think that Sarah is knocking the UK - but she wants/needs to get the wanderlust out of her system whilst she is still young. Plenty of time to enjoy everything that Britain has to offer later on. :beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. My partner is taking a career break next year and is going around the world.
He plans a month in Australia, five weeks in New Zealand, then some time in Fiji, Tonga and Hawaii, finishing with a week in San Francisco.
I'm going with him to Australia. The plan is to fly into Perth, take the train east to Kalgoorlie, then Adelaide. Then do a camping trip up to Alice (taking in Uluru). Fly to Sydney for a week, maybe a couple of days in Canberra. Then I fly home and he goes on to New Zealand.
Being debt-free is wonderful... Oh, and I will be 50 next month, partner is 42, so travel is not only for the young!!!!Retired in 2015.

Hey MJDH1957 - that sounds great! I took the train from Perth to Sydney via Adelaide and Kalgoorlie a few years ago and it was amazing - the landscape is incredible as it's so baron :-) Best of luck! Have a fab time! x :j0 -

Very true mjdh - I am a bit older than you, yet love travelling. I have been fortunate in that my career choice has allowed me to travel extensively, but I would still like to do the independent world tour (including Skegness of course).
