Terrible broadband but neighbours have no problems with theirs?

I've posted before about the long saga with my broadband issues. It worked great for the first year but since last March, it has been horrendous. Stops working randomly and now it won't come back on, often for days. Openreach have sent countless enginneers and to cut a long story short, they are now saying they may not be able to improve it as I am a long distance from the exchange (about 4 miles), and that they can cancel my phone/broadband completely without charge if I'd prefer that.
I mentioned that my neighbours (who are connected to the same overhead line) are having no problems with their broadband but they said it didn't matter. Apparently, there are different lines within the overhead cable that can be affected. Could anyone advise me about this? I just don't understand how they cannot get it working as well as it did before these issues, and also how it could be impossible to provide broadband for me when my neighbours have it.

Ask them to run a new overhead cable if they believe it's related to that.0

4 miles doesnt sound a lot. A large proportion of broadband issues originate in the home downstream of the main BT socket, usually poor connections, too many extensions, too much noise being generated etc..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I'm not sure if they'd run a new cable just for me. Perhaps that's why they're keen to get rid of me but I'm reluctant to be without any broadband at all. I'd be the only house in my area without it and it doesn't make sense to me.
We're in a rural area and the best speed I've ever got was only 1.3mb. Generally it was around 1mb until these problems started. Now the most I'll get is 0.3mb, if it works at all. I have no extensions or anything from my socket. It's just one phone and the router. They changed the master socket to one that is meant to reduce interference but it made no difference. All we have is one ipad so there isn't more than one person using the broadband at any time. No smartphones etc.
I must have had at least 20 engineers visits. It would probably be cheaper for openreach if they did run a new cable!0 -
Post your line ststs - see here
For some reason, once I click on the picture of my router, it says 'error, page not found'.
I remember posting the line stats in one of my previous threads but I don't think it showed anything significant, except how slow it is. You'd think at least some of the engineers would have found any issue with the line. I've had various responses from them. The guy today couldn't find any faults at all. The one last week said the line was riddled with faults but openreach wouldn't be fixing it because they're concentrating on expanding the fibre network.0 -

You don't click on the picture!
Use the dropdown box at the top of the page.
Your profile may be stuck and may need to be reset and the stats should show this. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Sorry, I should have worded that better! I did use the drop down box. There only seems to be one TalkTalk router and I'm not sure if it's exactly the same one as mine. There seemed to be more lights on it than mine has. I clicked on the link (http something) beside it and that's when I get the 'not found' message.0 -
Just post the make/model of your router. A speed drop from 1.3 MB down to only 0.3 MB has been caused by something and your line stats should help identifying the problem. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
