Sorry to hear about idiot drivers, it's so annoying!
You are doing really well otherwise though."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hi HM!
You are doing really well! Already seeing big improvements. I am so glad you had a nice time away.
I hope Little Dude feels better soon. It really is going around at the moment

Crikey that driver sounds frightening. A lot of people are going for the GoPro cameras to capture everything now. As it is big business doing exactly what they did to you only forcing the crash and then claiming for whiplash etc. Have seen youtube videos where a couple did it to a man who had a dash cam. They got out of the car after swerving in front of him and slamming the brakes on so that he hit them, and came and inspected the damage, rubbing their necks, gesticulating wildly at the damage to their car... He got out of the car and spoke to them briefly, and then turned and pointed to the dash cam. They got back in their car as soon as they saw it and drove away! at least he had evidence to stop their claim and get them caught by the police! I think it is a very wise decision, especially with a little fella in the car!
You're doing so well with the overpayments. Have you got enough room on another card to ask them if they would give you a good rate to transfer the MBNA one away? I get continual emails once a month as my MBNA is empty, offering me transfers. Why they couldn't have offered me that 0% when they were adding as much interest as the minimum payment for a year and a half I don't know. Feel good about the fact that you have covered the interest so your minimum payment is coming straight off the balance!!
Ref the tablet - I got Jellytot one for her Christmas present just before her 2nd birthday I think it was. It is a VTech Innotab Baby. Very hardy as she is inclined to throw thinks and it has never broken. You don't need cartridges for it and you can download the games from the tech learning lodge website. I only download one game every few months but she LOVES it. Always has. And has always called it applebee since she got it, no idea why!!
She reads stories to herself on it, and she sings along to dozens of nursery rhymes. She plays co-ordination games, and letter games, and ones where she has to select a body part. It was a lot more expensive than the other Vtech innotabs, but they are £15 a cartridge to go with them, and designed for older kids really. It was £84. Reduced to £74.99 in the sale a while before Christmas, and I had earned argos vouchers through maximiles, plus got a voucher for doing a high street survey etc. By the time I was done, it cost me £25 :rotfl:
Fingers crossed for Magpie paying out quickly. And for dude feeling lots better!! xx

Thanks for the info on the tablet Lilt, I've been having a look at that one and it sounds great for dude. I've sent a link to OH for him to approve then I'll keep an eye out for sales.
Magpie have finally sent the verify your account email so eagerly watching account for that money to go in and my second magpie parcel has landed at their depot so hoping that one wont take as long to go through.
I've had a bit of a spendy week but all bidgetted for and planned so nothing to wory about. House and contents insurance payment went out (managed to get monthly payments at the same price as annually which saved some budget now) and found it cheaper than my (very good) quote even when I factered in the cashback, so I get a Brian toy instead haha. This will be eb*yed as soon as it lands with me.
Money that would have paid off insurance has been spent on AA breakdown cover that has just run out. Went through cashback and it's tracking at just short of £30. Looking at TBC I'm waiting on just short of £60 to credit, it's all tracked and just waiting for it to become payable. So thats a nice little chunk to go off the card, along with the 2 magpie payments its about £100 so that really will make a difference to the MBNA card. Will see it under £900!!
I haven't got a high enough credit on my other card to transfer the MBNA card over unfortunately, theres only about £300 spare on there as I pretty much maxed it outI'm hoping that once I get rid of the MBNA one though I'll be able to throw the extra minimum payments at that and then maybe get a better deal with another card after I've closed the MBNA one down. Might have an improved score by then having less debt and one less card on the file.
I've had to bring dude to work today as boss was in a bit of a tis and didn't have any cover and I don't normally work today so had nobody to watch dude! He agreed that as it should be fairly quiet workwise and I was helping him out that dude could come along for the day )i work in an office so it's quite safe). I have to say he has been an absolute angel all day! Following me round while I've been working and being so good and quiet while I've been on the phone. Boss wondered where he was earlier as he hadn't heard a peep put of him all day and came to check he was still here!! So super proud mummy
I think thats all for today. Hope everyone else is keeping well and thank you for the positive replies re the plodding away at payments. It gets me down sometimes not being able to throw more at it, but until I get back to working full time and having my normal wage again it's just not going to happen. It may be longer than I originally planned before I go back to working full time as well as I'm not sure that nursery vs wage will make it worthwhile at the moment. I guess time will tell.January 2015 - LBM

Had to spend today, didn't want to and not planned but it's ok as I've got money left over from other budgets. Antibiotics for a chest infection and a loaf of bread and some milk.
On a positive after the perscription money left my account it also left an odd figure of £1.95 so I moved that the the emergency fund. Silver lining and all that, so that now stands at £9.66.
I'm off to check magpie now for an update on my payment.... I'm sure it should have landed by now.January 2015 - LBM

Hey you!!
Thanks for dropping innot been around for a few days! Hope the antibiotics are not for you/dude?!?! Or hubby I suppose
I know what you mean about nursery making working not worthwhile. A colleague of mine came back full time and her son was costing £860 a month in nursery costs... whether he was there or not! Illnesses still had to be paid for.I asked why she was back at work as it left her working full time for a couple of hundred quid a month. And she said she didn't like being with him all the time. I can sympathise but really paying that much to get away from him?!?!?
Hope you're ok! Exciting to see your savings pot!!! xx

I echo the nursery cost comment.. going back after twins crippled us and we probably came out with about £100 early days.. them reaching three has made a massive impact and DH works at home twice a week so they only go in for the morning those days.. but if we'd had to put them in 5 days a week all day, I dread to think how we would have coped.
Roll on July for my last nursery payment!!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
