Feeling old now (36!)
Well done on the overpayments, those £10s will really add up!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -
Lilt I once asked my German teacher in school to translate some of the lyrics, can't remember which one but it was when I first got into them..... she looked at the sheet I gave her and told me to leave her classroom:rotfl: I immediately went to the school library and googled it and even that wouldn't tell me due to the security settings
I then was even more intrigued and had to come home and find out, quite shocking really but it all sounds so good screaming it in German!!
I'm 29 in September, scary where time goes, I'm still 18 head banging round clubs in my mind.
JWil You're certainly not old, I don't think I'll ever be 'old' my head won't let me...
So today I have set up my overpayment for the mortgage, it told me this would pay off the mortgage just over a year early and save me just over £1000:j Not a massive time or saving but it's my time and my money and once the cards have gone then I can throw some more at it.
My little overpayment to the card and my DD have gone out on the MBNA so the new total is now £931.66, signature updated. not a bad start, payday is 2 weeks away so may be able to throw some more at it before then as well.
Also still waiting for the Magpie money to land and my cashback won't be in for another few weeks yet so that will all go towards it when it hits.
I was putting some dates in my diary today and generally making notes of things and realised we've got a holiday booked in March!! I had totally forgotten about it (how do you forget a holiday??) It's just a caravan holiday on the opposite coast for a week and was stupidly cheap when we booked it ages ago. So that's a nice little something to look forward to and it's all paid for so just a bit of spending money. We'll probably just go for a few walks and lounge by the nice heated swimming pool and splash around with little dude. He is a total water baby!!
I'm also going away for the weekend next week with my mum and little dude. Mums treat so not costing me a penny. :j just got a room booked for a couple of nights and goinng to visit a few family members we don't see very often and have a wander round York. So all in all a good post me thinks....
Little dude in bed, oh gone to pub with a mate and I'm snuggled in bed catching up of a few diaries. Also did a batch of lasagne today, one for tea and a couple of portions for the freezer. I will build a stock up of batch cooked meals if it kills me!!January 2015 - LBM

Well nothing much to report for today. Waiting for minimum payment to go out later this week for NW card, then can update that total. I've added a savings to my signature as I'd like to build up a little bit of savings to have as well.
Was given £50 yesterday from FIL to treat myself (specifically me and not little dude) this weekend. There's nothing I particularly want or need so unless I see something I will stash it away somewhere. Or maybe go for a nice afternoon tea while in York!
Benn on onep*ll this morning and done all the surveys they offered, only joined up a few days ago and on just over £5 already so hopefully that will keep going at a good rate and I'll have a pay out soon which can go straight to the cards!
House insurance renwal came in over the weekend at £250, went on a couple of comparison sites (through TCB) and got the qupte down to £190. OH suggested maybe just getting buildings instead of contents as well but I'm not convinced. We don't really have any high value items anyway, but if something was to happen, replacing all the appliances etc could get quite costly. I think I'll stand my ground with that one and keep it, unless any of you guys have an suggestions??
Magpie parcel is in the processing stage... hope they get a move on and get to the paying me stage soon!! I've only actually paid an extra £19.34 off the MBNA card this month and really wanted it to be a bit better than that. Still every little helps.January 2015 - LBM

Hello!!
I love how hard you tried to find the words :rotfl: all I remember these days is something about a dead little girl.
I beat you. I am 29 in Aprila whole 5 months earlier.
Forgetting about a holiday is great. What a nice little treat to look forward to'opposite coast' for me is Cornwall which my brother has a huge static caravan in. I think I might see if we can go there at some point this year. Not been on holiday since 2008  then again, I live a few seconds from the sea so what is the point?
As for the insurance, I rent and I have covered £30,000 of contents. Think logically.... things you would have to replace. Not just furniture, but an entire kitchen full of stockpiled food. Clothes for you both & little man, which include casual, work related & smart. You buy these things, bit by bit and don't notice, but watching a programme a few nights ago it suddenly dawned on me that the stuff in my kitchen cupboards, basics and Mr L's as it may be... is worth hundreds!!! Let alone the freezer full of meat. Tot up DVD costs. Maybe you wouldn't replace them, but they cost a lot. My puppy ate through over £400 of box sets in one afternoon once
£190 is not bad, can you go to the cashback websites and see if the same insurer is offering cashback on their own without the comparison site taking a cut then do it through there? Thats what I did, although I had to go with the second cheapest, but got £40 back on a £68 policy
I am going to batch cook some lasagne tomorrowxx

Hi Lilt!
I decided to deffinately go for contents insurance, was talking to oh last night and he was all grumble grumble money lah blah and I started listing to him things just in the living room that would need replacing, sofa (only a couple of years old) £1000, tv £300, Xbox etc and was a couple of grand in there alone and I didn't really include everything so think he is converted now.
I just know if I didn't something terrible would happen next week and we'd be stuck.
On a plus note the cheapest quote was with a comparison site, I searched the company through TCB and went through them and it came out over £100 more expensive even though they offer £90 cashback. The company then rang me about an hour or so later and got it down to £265, then cashback off so it'll be cheaper than original quote. I said I still wasn't happy and would be looking round still so he's ringing back tonight after he's seen what else he can do haha.
Also just started the process for switching to hal!fax for the incentive of course, and need to remember to swish a bit of money around to meet the miimum for the rewards. OH has the bigger wage and most other stuff gets paid to joint so may just change tax credits etc to go into there whic would mean less moving about. Once it's set up and money got I'll convince OH to do the same for another £100, then maybe even switch the joint account to somewhere else to get another reward for the sake of it. If they're gonna give me money then I have no loyalty to my current bank.
I'm thinking of getting a balance tranfer card too, both my cards have interest on at the moment, but as I'm only doing part time at the moment I'm not sure they'll give me another card and I don't really want keep putting little marks on my file! Maybe I'll see if hal!fax will give me one with my new account as they have a 0% deal...... off to ponder that one me thinks.January 2015 - LBM

Phew on the contents insurance, and wahey, well done you for the wheeler-dealing!! I am very impressed with your quote!!! And even more so that he is calling back
you are obviously good at this!!
Tax credits, child benefit etc all count towards your 'income' - I am part time too so that I can see more of Jelly & keep house etc. Without the tax creds I wouldn't meet the minimum criteria on anything lol! I just spend 10 minutes shuffling it around once a month. Within 10 mins it is back to the original account. I have standing orders set up to cover the 2 DD's on two other accounts (I just moved the DD's that were always the same amount, 2 into each account) and then shuffle £1k through each month and back
I don't know what my credit file looks like. I did a mystery shop with The Halifocks for a credit card and they messed up and didn't remove it from my credit file for ages even though it was meant to be scrubbed. I should check but I can't get free trials again for a while!!xx

I mainly use noddle for credit file, that ones free.
Howevr I have got a couple of others running at the moment on trials to get the cashback.
I am a hard person to get money out of so insurance etc have to work extra hard lol.January 2015 - LBM
