Not quite, the journo hasn't got the fine detail right there. Telfonica S.A. (the parent company) are allegedly trying to get rid of Telefonica UK. O2 is just the trading name of Telefonica UK. The sale shouldn't have any effect in MVNO operation.

Ronan Dunne would probably be out of a job if Telefonica UK (O2) are sold.

All reports only mention that Telfonica S.A. was only after getting shot of o2 after selling off o2 broadband and home phone to Sky and then o2 Ireland to Three, but they were waiting to see how the BT takeover of EE goes

I agree, I was just correcting his assumption that Telefonica UK were somehow going to sell O2. I actually think the idea of Hutchison buying O2 are a bit of pie in the sky, it would be extremely unlikely to get past the competition authorities.

I am surprised BT are going for EE rather than take back o2 ( which was theirs originally.

I was in loft the other day and found a Nokia 100 in a BTcellnet box. with a one2one sim.

Originally BT wanted EE and o2, which was rejected, i think what i read the authorities are in favour of Hutchinson taking over o2 it the BT takeover of EE goes through

    £60 Quidco.
Unfortunately, it's for TalkTalk customers only.

I have ordered a SIM on a month by month contract (600Mb data/unlimited txt/300 mins) at £5 per month - through Quidco and will only receive £20 cash back - they must have realised that they were losing money on £60 cash back ??

Main reason is future costs, O2 is like a potholed dirt track that will require billions to get up to standard. EE is already a motorway that will become a superhighway with much less spent.

£10-12 billion for EE is actually a better deal than £8-9 billion for O2 and then almost a blank chequebook needed to upgrade it.

hello to the OP, I received a response from talktalk staff who gave me the current position regarding 02. yes 02 is coming, but talktalk staff dont anticipate little will change for talktalk customers in 2015. In a nut shell they repeated what i typed earlier.

good to learn you have been cautious in agreeing a month to month contract, welcome to talktalk mobile,m you will love the price, esp as you got cash back as well, a double winner :)

if possible, try and log onto the talktalk members forum.
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!

Don't know why we bothered - the signal is totally unusable in our house, despite the on-line map, showing that we should be able to receive a good 3G signal indoors
I have emailed helpdesk to inform them, that unless they have any suggestions, I want my money back and to cancel the account...
We drove around the area this morning and found that, outside, the signal varied from 0 to 4 bars - so is too wayward to use !

Does your phone have the 3G 900 band as O2 use it extensively .
If it doesn't, it would explain the holes.

Is it a switchable option ?

I'm not even sure that Vodafone is even using 3G900.

Even if they are, it wouldn't be 'extensive', not even on O2 who do use it and probably what hengleng is getting confused with. 3G900 is mostly used to add capacity (so in areas with 3G2100 already in use, mainly urban).

    What phone are you using?
