I always thought their name was short for FIAT Worse than Death?
I jest though. Fiat are a lot better than they used to be. If you read into their recent history, they are in the middle of a massive turnaround. The Panda, Grande Punto, and the Fiat 500 are all great cars. We may have a poke at them as a car maker but they are currently in a much better position that Ford for example.
Watch Alfa Romeo too over the next couple of years. They are the next brand that FIAT are to turn around. Oh, and rumours of Lancia coming back to the UK....
Anyway, personally, this is just a gimmick to get people into the showrooms, much stronger discounts are readily available from www.broadspeed.com or their ilk.0 -

Yep, like the 27% off list price that my girlfriend got on her Panda!

My wife used to work for them and we've had 4 Fiats in 10 years. All brand new and all full of problems. Main issue is all Fiat dealers are extremely poor. I have dealt with everyone in Beds, Herts and Bucks over this period, alot of which have now closed! They are clueless when it come to repairs and customer service....Fiat are the worst company I have had the misfortune to deal with ever.0

And I have to stick up for it, it's a fantastic car to drive.0 -
Depreciation is calculated using percentages, which generally isn't a good way of doing it. Using finacial loss the best cars in the industry are from the likes of Kia and Fiat.
When a car like the Panda is £4850 new it's depreciation is huge because it was sold at a discount to start with. A VW Golf isn't sold at a huge discount therefore when it loses only 25% of its value in a year that looks great. On a 15k Golf you have lost £3750, the Fiat which still sells for 4k after a year has only lost £850 in the same period.
Which is the depreciation winner ?0 -
our 1st Punto was a T reg, kept 3 years then got a new one, kept 3 years got a new one and now are 2 years into this one.
other than services and the ridiclous setup that makes getting to some of the bulbs a nightmare, i have only had our various Punto's into the garage on 2 seperate occasions for fairly minor issues.
i think 2 garage visits in 8 years is pretty reliable motoring.
cheap insurance, spacious interior for a small car and economical.
i dont believe in spending the kinds of money that some do on cars, i cant afford it actually, and i think a vast majority of people buy/run cars they cant afford to as part of "material Britiain", after all "8 million adults in Britain have SERIOUS debt"
i dont give a toss about "depreciation", i buy a car, i use it, wash and repeat.
i have always got a good deal from my dealer.0 -

Get real, nobody is going to pay 4k for a used Panda that cost £4850 new.0
