Should have looked after it a bit more then it might not have rusted!

I agree, I know that I should never have actually used it, I am sure it would have lasted better in the showroom.

...it annoys me that the majority (if not all) of the people above can bash the current Fiat crop of cars without owning one or having any knowledge of the current cars. Their judgments are based entirely on hearing the Fic It Again Tomorrow quip that was about when I was knee height of a grass hopper...
But you don't have to have owned one to have the knowledge about an object, its reputation or history. These forums are about sharing knowledge as well as experience and it is widely accepted amongst people in the trade and experts in the field as well as current owners (read plentiful reviews on the net) that Fiat has significant reliability issues whether one like it or not. I can't see why you dislike people expressing these well known facts and let others know about them and why they should only speak if they have owned one already. I give it to you though that going against the tide might bring some attention but it will remain to be a bit pointless.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

I'm afraid that a great deal of 'received wisdom' and widely acknowledged 'fact' is re-iterated over the net and forums, and is often unhelpful. I'm no car expert but did know about Fiats reputation before I bought my Punto. It was a great buy, perhaps not the best car I could have bought for my money, but gave me ten years of trouble-free motoring. My passat is brilliant, but I have already discovered that high tech components frequently go wrong, even within the first couple of years.

Post cleared because Mark above put it a lot more eloquently that I did....

Just a shame some people are so superior in knowledge that they won't listen...

There is a site (think it may be volvo or wahxhall) that lets you value your car using the glasses guide. It was published here once. Wish I could remember it...

Is that a typo or did you mean to spell it like that?

It sounds like how a Japanese person would pronounce it :D

    (no offence to Japanese people)

@ Sid Harper, yes thats the site... only problem with it is it gives the "part exchange" price and as most people will agree, that is usually considerably less than the actual value of the car (i.e. sold privately)

Fiat are not the worst cars in the world, they are the same if not better than anything made by the French companies especially Renault, at least Fiats are cheap! The Panda is the best bargain on the road at under 5k new.
